Idea! Moosic Mt. aka Earl's Preserve at Noon Saturday 9/1/12

How about a trip around the great trails at Moosic Mt. Preserve?(MMP)

Moosic Mountain in Pennsylvania | The Nature Conservancy

We will ride about 10 to 12 miles getting in a good MMP tour. Super single track trails with big exposed conglomerate rocks that have lots of traction. Climbing will be present, as will tight turns with little ups to keep you on your game.

This ride is open to all who wish to join, as long a your comfortable with riding the mileage and being on the trails for more than a few hours. Our group rides intermediate pace with a few ride leaders to assist, we stop for breaks and to hydrate/refuel.

I have added the trail map and directions, but MMP is basically north of Scranton near Dunmore, Pa.

If your interested in joining us or have questions post up here.

And please remember 9/2/12 Sunday is the Coal Cracker Classic pre-ride making for a Labor Day weekend with lots of choices.

I was out at Moosic last Friday, it's in fabulous shape.

Red, you should do both, I'm betting they are very different rides - but then I've never seen the CCC course so what do I know!

Can't make it this weekend but thanks for posting the map. I go up to Carbondale semi-frequently and will definitely be checking this out next time I head that way.

Here's a few from the first days(11/2007)of trail building at Moosic Mt...

...Rob, Gene and Jenny, really cold up on the mountain this day, but we GPSed lots of stuff crawling through the laurels!

    Great day!

Then the next spring(4/2008) Gene and I marking out Blueberry trail, and trail work has officially begun as we have someone wielding an "AX"... LOL

    Rocks galore!

Another super day in the woods...
...Moosic Mt. just flat out... ROCKS!

We rode the preserve for all it was worth. Justin and Lynn, fellow riders added to the fun as the sun never stopped shining, and there were a few others were out on the trails today. Trails were as perfect as I have ever seen them, lots of traction and dry. The views along the way are beautiful, but be weary as looking off will get ya a tug by the laurels on your front wheel, guiding you back to attention on the trail. None the less looking across the Lackawanna valley to Hubbard, Meyers, and Bell mountains just leaves me thinking of all the rides I have done over there also!

Bruised Ego, Gene's Trail, High Voltage all were excellent, and yes we climbed and climbed, but got to play on the rocks too. Glad I was able to show others this great riding area. Finishing with prolly one of the most beautiful longest downhill runs the area has to offer, Blueberry Trail has a special place to me as a never ending flow back to the car. I couldn't stop looking at the scenery, but with different muscles burning now, heading downhill all the climbing muscles getting a much needed rest. Blueberry is our reward for all our travels. Gotta get back here many more times as it just keeps a smile in my mind.

Driving across the valley to Mo's for Tacos was the way to finish, but I don't know if Justin was trying to kill the riding pain, or just kill his insides as he went for the "tiny" peppers!... LOL

Guys thanks for coming along on a super ride...
...and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I never did the pre-ride. Luckily, someone noticed both of my seat stays were cracked on my Windsor before we went out in 2010!!! The race is really fun, though!!!
Waging war on my pedals every chance I get!!!
