    Moosic hunting

    What's the story with hunting a Moosic preserve? Want to ride tomorrow but don't want to screw with hunters opening weekend.

    Moosic isn't a big destination for hunting, but it does border SGL

    Just a few comments,

    Ride it counterclockwise for more hills or clockwise for less.

    Make sure ya hit the top of Blueberry trail at some point down to the lot for the greatest views!

    Enjoy

    Doesn't include Blueberry, which goes across the top, but otherwise mostly complete.

    here => pdf link

    If you go out from the lot and take the 1st right trailhead and follow that across, it comes up to what I consider the "waterfall extension" - trail up-hill from the the Waterfall Loop.

    Continue down that connectiion and it drops you onto Waterfall loop.

    Nature.org has maps that you can print. The best bet though is to take a photo on your phone. Blueberry seems to be the favorite up there. It's the longest trail, but is the easiest. It's built with the intention of being easy on the climb, but fast, flowy and fun on the downhill. The rest of the trails are rocky cause that's what we have to work with.
    As far as hunting goes, TNC opens the gates for two weeks a year for deer season. These are the only two weeks that I tell people to avoid TNC. We still have the other 50 weeks to enjoy it, so we may as well let others enjoy their time up Moosic too. Ttyl, Fahn
    Ps. Bear, that extension from Blueberry to Waterfall is called Bones. That's where the body was found the day after we completed that trail last year. RIP
