    Hello Fellow Moonies...
...it's time again for salad removal after the recent wind event.

Saturday 7/12/14 at around noon at the main gate we will meet.

A walk through and flick/pick of sticks and branches that have gathered on our trails need to be removed, so its not hard work, just lots of work to get our trails pristine once again for the summer season. If you have a leaf blower and feel so inclined to bring it, please do by all means.

    Hope you can attend...
    ...the Moon trails thank you!

I saw you there leaf blowing or cutting on my way out, not sure which. I did some light pickup on the lower trails, 5 tree, nightmare, etc. I moved a few logs that blew over. There was one I couldn't get alone though, on the lower rocky section towards the chain link fence that takes you into the dark.

Super turn out for the clean up!!!!!!!!!!!!! The trail groomers were on it hard leaf blowing heard all over the park! This was an epic clean up event best I have ever seen! Please everyone take a bow, you did a super job and really love your park. Personally it is great to have so many friends to ride with, but also to stand along side and clean up improve and make Moon Lake a great place for everyone to visit. We even had friends from Reading area come up to help us, that's dedication! We had hikers bikers dog walkers and others help so we really are one huge family.

Other highlights... the marina parking lot a was packed with fishermen and the lake was too! An attack dog demo was held in the fields.

The food and cookout was very enjoyable, thanks to all who contributed. Trails are great, ride, hike, or just visit and sit in the woods.

PS... George Hart had one of the new USB rechargeable rakes and he really put it to the test!...LOL

Thanks to all... you are champs!

Got there around 2:30 Sunday. Whole place was immaculate. Gorgeous. Tried to clear out parts of 5858 and Salamander, but my electric leaf blower was underpowered. I have access to a gas-powered blower. Anyone know what the gas/oil mix is supposed to be?

    Tree down on Sally.

Usually 32:1 mix... but see if you can find an owners manual online for your model, and as we say in the premix world more is better and will only foul a plug but less will seize up your motor.

Anybody riding the Moon, lately? I have to be up that way next week and thought about going out for a spin - how are trails? Is there hunting? Any info would be much appreciated.

The state took over officially and posted "No Hunting" and I was told by the ranger in person the same. Trails are leaf covered and a few blow downs exist, other than that...

As Lee said the trails do have some leaf coverage. There is a tree down on The Slide about halfway into the trail, and there is 1 down on Burts. Aside from that Da Moon is good to ride. You might want to wear a bright colored jersey. Some of the outlying property does allow hunting, and I myself have seen hunters walking thru the park. Just a measure of safety.

Thanks for the info. I know rifle season is going on, so I really don't want to be anywhere there is active hunting. I figure if the park doesn't allow it and I go mid-day with bright jersey I should be alright.

As Lee said, the state has posted no hunting signs all around the park. I was there on the opening day of the rifle season and saw a few people from the state driving around by the lake. I didn't see any hunters at all. I made sure to stay away from NFS and the lower sections of 5858. Stay on the trails inside the park property and you should be good.

Usually the hunters you see at Moon lake park are locals who's properties border the park. Moon Lake is not know as a prime hunting area due to all the activities that go on there.

Kuhlkat is right on the money NFS and 5858 border nearby properties and I can say I know most of the neighbors and they are good people just looking to enjoy their sport, and a few have help make Moon Lake what it is today.

So be safe, be aware, and enjoy!

Exactly why during hunting season, I only ride parks where there is no hunting or ride on a Sunday. Besides the safety issue, I don't want to buzz kill any hunters. We get access to enjoy our sport year round, they only get a few weeks to enjoy theirs. thanks for the info everybody.
