    Good job!

The current value of that bike...

... is prolly less than that shifty, thingy you need for the squishy Spez!

Ride da mOOn using only 1 speed?

The fisher was a minty piece when it was new 3 years ago. But yeah, probably still worth less than the XTR rock snagger.

Will, saw your bike today at ATB. I can't believe it was that messed up. I was right behind you and didn't see you hit anything. I can't imagine what caused it.

Haha yeah I think Rich and Tom are gonna hang that cage/hanger up and frame it. Supposedly I was the first to have such a significant failure that they have seen.

    Good job!

I was lucky to have today to go mOOn...

... so trails free of leaves are:

    Nature's Way 1
    Nature's Way 2
    What
    Deacon
5858 from Deacon to Rt 29
    Salamander Rd to 5858

This quadrant of the mOOn trails is complete and free of leaves and debris!

It really feels good to have all this work going well and after all that damage I think we almost have our trails back to where they were before all the storms! Thanks to all who made it so...

    Good job!

Slide trail is rerouted and open....

... Slide trail doesn't go down the hill through the Multi-Floral Rose(MFR) picker fest anymore! MFR is impossible to get rid of and constantly trimming pickers is no fun at all, so Slide has 2 new highlights, more character, and a connection with Twister, thus allowing a figure 8 riding loop, and more options. As usual it's a bit off camber, but it will bench in quick. It still has one of the switchbacks!

    Good job!

The "old easy trail section" on Ledgeview...

... by the "harder short steep ramp over the downed tree"

I cut all the laying trees and debris, just need someone riding by to take 2 minutes to remove all the scrub and the easy line will be open again. I ran out of daylight and didn't have my lights with me, so the scrub remains. If your facing the ramp, the section I speak of is to your left.

Thanks to whoever dresses it up.

    lost license

I think I lost my drivers license last night at the truck. I was parked across the highway from the main gate. I live an hour away, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Good job!

Finally got the time to remove the downed trees on Eagle dirt road trail...

... and one of your favorite trails just got longer and better with a rough in reroute on Ledgeview. As you exit the very bottom of Ledgeview instead of using Eagle(dirt road) singletrack now parallels to the rock wall crossing on Ledgeview, then over to the connection with Salamander/8 trails! A few interesting rock overs and log crossing(one big one will be removed or double lined) are there for your enjoyment. This allows more loop circuits and singletrack. Of course Eagle(dirt road) now open if you prefer that.

Just remember I said "roughed in" so it is soft and lumpy... LOL Ride it to pack it in then I will tune it to make it more flowy!

    Good job!

    Updates 1st day of 2012

Today I trimmed out Rock-It trail, so it's back online, still it's nasty green moss covered rock festival that it always was, we rode it and got slammed by it! Good start for 2012!

Shoe tested his new Christmas present a fine 2 stroke blower as he cleaned up Rock-It, Mo-Zee and a few other trails like 5858, thanks to him for spending his New Years Day doing trail maintenance!

Trails are a bit slippy, but very ridable, none the less for this time of year as last year we couldn't even get on them!

    Good job!

    4/17/12

I tuned; NW1, What, Ledgeview, and first part of 8! removed loose rocks and standing broken roots!

Dual trail is blown clean, it parallels Buddy's across the paved road accessed from Mo-Zee, would like to see it used more!

Ledgeview is really fast and the turns are getting pushed in a lot of places, thus berming up...woo hoo! 8 is the same way! Dry, fast, and fun with the usual tech stuff to keep ya thinking!

    Needs removal:

Tree down on 5858(accessed at rt29 upper parking area, walk down towards Flume)

Tree down on 8.1(accessed across from Ledgeview entrance)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watkins bridge need rebuild(workday planned in future)

Nemisis trail at Deacon needs attention(new boards here and there)

Dave mentioned to me: Design, construct at bottom of Nitemare "Flowing turn into Moto trail to allow momentum continum"(workday planned)

    Good job!

Summer is rolling and mOOn is in good shape, thanks to all who in the past and present keep it so!

With so much riding going on with the great weather do we need a workday, or can we just roll along doing stuff as we always do?

    Just few updated notes...

...Last week I walked Big Blue trimmed it back, rode it last Wednesday night the fast flow is back now you can see around corners thus allowing you to keep your speed up!

Growing season is upon us and everyone does such a great job keeping da mOOn ridable, so with that said, feel free to grab your hand prunners and trim away:

    1. I will get to da mOOn tonight 6/14/12 and cut out the downed tree on 5 Tree, bit I will just notch it to the side for an easier line and leave the log as to make another line for the riders who like log overs!

    2. Entire lower 5858 from Deacon to the Flume needs trim back.

    3. Needs trim back: Rock'it, Mo-Zee, Peek-A-Boo, Moto, Berts, any others?

    4. The bridge on Watkin's is blown out, please beware it is not ridable, and needs new top boards, roughly 4 feet wide, nailed down. There are old destroyed picnic tables in the campground that can be recycled, please don't take a good picnic table!

If ya pick a trail and do work please post you results up. If anyone knows of other stuff post up someone will take care of it.

Thanks for all, you all do!

Moon Lake Trail damage reports here

I know this isn't "damage" put didn't know where else to put it. My last ride at da Moon I noticed the beginning of Big Blue getting grown in. I charged up the battery to my weed wacker and today Lisa and I took a trip to groom the trail a little...I think it looks much better now!!! I hope you enjoy!!!

    Good job!

Been trying to avoid the workday...

...since the riding weather is so nice who wants to work...LOL

But now Buddys and NW2 are totally blocked with big trees, So we need a chainsaw party.

Trimming is still in progress if you have time head out with hand prunners and trim back any "eye pokers" or stuff that hanging in the way. Most trails are still in need of this.

Please don't "widen" any of the trails with "ferns" they are just beautiful right now!

    Thanks!

Cleaned up Thorny on Wednesday, the pickers were starting to get into the trail, plus general cleanup of branches and sprung roots.

Trimmed back the branches off a fallen tree on the connector of 5 tree to slide.

Trimmed the hanging branches off that tree on top of the hillclimb on 8 that is hanging over the trail and getting really low.

    Good job!

    7/5/12

Myself and SS Kevin removed the tree from JKE...

... but left a big section that hand saws wouldn't touch, so I will get with the big cc 2 stroker wood chip slinger next time out...

Thanks to SS Kevin for giving up some of the ride to hep out tonight!

    pics coming...

    Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead!

    7/19/12...

...I tuned the section of Deacon the goes to Ledgeview that is now called Legdeview except the sign isn't up yet(coming soon) In an effort to get more riders on this great connector I leveled some rocks and opened up turns a bit more, trimmed it all out. It still has the rock over stuff but runarounds are a bit more friendly. In case your wondering it is right at the picnic table by Deacon, and it takes you to Ledgeview without missing any of Ledgeview except 25 feet of it...

There is a 8 inch diameter tree down right after the logover special section on 8 trail, a hand saw would make quick work of it...

5858 is grown in bad as well as the lower section of NFS

I was there yesterday tree is down near the big rolling rock on T-Rex 1. Picked a ton of branches off T-Rex 2 and the first part of Going Up.

    Thanks Ron...

...I did 2 hours on T-Rex2 today 7/29/12 didn't see the tree someone must have got it by then...

...I tuned, designed more flow, removed loose roller rocks and anomalies, trimmed out eye pokers!...

...and that's the great thing about mOOn, lots of super people clean those trails like scrubbing bubbles for trails... LOL

Buddy's trail reroute due to large, long downed tree...

...rather than cut it out simpler to reroute onto old now healed section of Buddy's trail makes for a great way to reroute, as this section has drainage from the paved road not much room to reroute.

    So Buddy's is open again.

    Trail work 9/ 19/12...
...I got one more tree tonight on the connector of Edge and T-Rex2 and a few more on Edge, also I trimmed and tuned Edge trail for 2 hours tonight before the ride, still amazes me how cool this trail is once you learn how to ride it. It provides thrills and improves your balance! Check it out sometime!

    Idea!

After a great ride, started work on NFS from the top today...

...sun was warm and shining brightly making for a super place to be at the top of the park. Found a few bees still all stirred up that liked stinging my thumb.

Realigned a rough section onto solid rock, trimmed the pokers and worked on the triple log over, a few well placed flat rocks and you can see how nice the locker makes for a neat repair, plus recycling things that are laying around is a big plus, this way the trail remains all natural. My work ended at the first 180 turn, I'll go from there next time!

Then reversed direction and did T-Rex2 looking for more flow and rhythm from the water tanks down to the connection with T-Rex1

DR6 that's the killer on NFS at the beginning...
...it really looks different doesn't it?

That thing broke a spoke on my front wheel last year, then I had to ride down the rest of NFS with a wobbly wheel... LOL

Salamander needs some love too. I rode down it last night and there are two or three low-hanging, overhead "thwackers" that make a tough trail ... well, tougher. I'm contemplating picking up a small chainsaw, so I can easily clean out stuff like this myself. If I have some time (not this or next week, unfortunately), I'll stroll on 58 and prune.

    Best,
    Mark

    Good job!

    Mark:

Thanks, we'll get that clean up too...

...tonight I trimmed more of 5858 up & down from the Rt 29 parking lot, lots more to do, and noticed 2 big trees down between the Flume and the Rt 29 parking lot, actually if you park at the Rt 29 lot and walk down towards the Flume you will see the trees. The one on the ground is more than 12 inches in diameter.

NW 2 has a new one laying near the main gate, it's rotted and should cut easy. I might be able to get it with my handsaw or a few riders could drag it off I think, as long as it's not wedged by it's roots! It's about 6 inches in diameter.

I still gotta get Eagle trail reopened and Skinnys trail by 8 towards Plan B and Plan B

So much stuff to do, so much riding to do... LOL

Welcome to Hurricane Sandy clean up...

    ...today 10/31/12

I cleaned Thorny and reopened the other Thorny aka "Thorny BMX" removing downed trees, thus marking these trails off the list, Wheew!

You can now do laps on Thorny to your hearts content, maybe a few well placed "pumps" will be added in the future...

A few pics of Thorny and why it's called, nice long needles that "HURT"

    Super work everyone...

    I worked on 11/7/12...

...cleaned the connector of NW!/NW2, then drove over and parked on Pavlick Rd, leaf removal on all of T-Rex2 the NFS connector and mini trials area, service road down to Edge. Cleaned parts of Edge(will finish, ran out of gas)

Ledgeview needs a re-blow, oak leaves were last to fall
    Pappy's needs leaf blowing
    Salamander?
    5858?
    NFS?

    Treesdown:

5Tree by the Big Blue connection
ET near the last turn up top
T-Rex2 option to campground by the ledge drop

Spent my Sunday on the Moon Trails

    8
    LegdeView
    GumBall
    Mo-Zee
    Peek-A-Boo

All blown clean, trimmed and improved, a later walk through with some tuning will occur next time I get a chance to do so.

Gumball (a beginner level trail) is reopened and fun, adding a chance to play around more in the inner trail segment of the park.

GumBall? Have we ever rode it?
On a side note when I rode on Sunday I moved 3 big trees blown down, one on Big Blue, and 2 on 5 Tree, the one was at head level when I rounded a corner, barely stopped for that one!

Thanks and back at ya for all your hard work.

Gumball can be found at the midway point of Peek-A-Boo, you'll see it as I made the intersections very visible until I can get 2 signs made. It's a short fun lolly pop.

    NFS triple tree gets "ROCKED"

Thought about lumber for a second, but with all the rocks just laying there, and Mother Nature always gives me a 1000 year guarantee on Rocks!

So...when life gives ya Rocks you make Rockaid

Been meaning to get back to this section, well today after the ride, 1.5 hours of hauling rocks made it much better, not to say easy, but now there is a defined line from both directions, again it is NFS and not meant to be a breeze.

Give it a try next time your up that way and let me know!

pic views are from both directions

    Cool-blue Rhythm

    Thanks Bill,

basically I made a big tabletop of rocks out of it!

    More updates today, 6/8/13

Removed downed trees on T-Rex2, Edge, Dark, Go'in Up, and 8, also on 8 I began restoring the original line on 8.5 that was closed by the tornado a few years back, huge tree that has now rotten and should be easier to cut out hopefully!

Very tiring day, but lots got done!

Skinnys has a big tree down and Rock-It needs a total trim as it is almost closed up. I'll get thew tree on Skinnys, anyone interested in trimming Rock-It?

Give me a call, the blades are sharpened, the heads are loaded with line, the bottles are filled with gas, the chains are sharpened and the backpack is loaded. I had plenty of time to do trail tool maintence the last few months, I am back to better than last summer. I am free every night this weeek except Thursday, Alex is graduating HS. Moira and I are picking strawberries today, gotta keep the dehydrator feed, fruit roll ups this year too. I am getting cabin fever right about now.

I will load the truck with the leaf blower, weed wacker chainsaw and dogs. Just let me know what night.
