I continued on Big Blue today.

Kind of slow going, I would walk ahead and move the branches then walk back to the leaf blower snipping branches on the way, then leaf blow a section.

Looks like I will finally get to try out my new saw.

Making my way to Five tree.

I made it to the five tree intersection, then turned right, made it about another 1/4 mile, and ran into a tree top facing me, it covered the whole trail, and will need to be attacked with a chain saw from the other side.

    DR:

In the last pic cannot even imagine a trail ran through there a few days ago and we were on it!

Nice work, we will get the big tree cut out.

Started at the bottomn of JKE today, just before the ramps there are HUGE trees down.
I blew out the salad up to the split, then went left, at the next intersection to the right there is another big tree down.
On the way down I ran into Lee and we could hear the thunderstorm over our heads, we could hear the rain as it pounded through the trees right at us, we started hightailing it out of there, twice right over our heads the lightning struck, and I was carrying a metal walking stick!

    Good job!

Like Chuck said it was "ELECTRIC"...

... So JKE has big trees at the section in from the sanitation plant no way to reroute so they gotta go, but it is free of salad.

Dave K and I got a ride in and Plan B has downed trees, since it's a service road they gotta go, no reroutes!

Looked at Dr Feelgood and Big Stick, BS just looks like salad removal will do didn't get too far into Dr F.

    Work continues Monday...

I said the trails were de-foliaged! Not the standing trees! No trees were harmed during this process!

    Salamander

Mini and I made it up from Bloomsburg today to work on Salamander. We made a lot of progress, but it's gonna take another day at least. The Moon is in really bad shape, but there are some people stepping up to help out. We ran into Koolkat and Joan and of course Lee today all working hard to get the trails reopened. It's amazing how much damage the wind can do! We started at the Deacon end of the trail on the doubletrack and cleared that of all the big stuff and it's able to be ridden now, we didn't make it super pretty because it's doubletrack. Once it turns to singletrack we got serious, we cut out some tree tops and large limbs, but when we got to the first large tree across the trail we had a chainsaw malfunction so that's only halfway cut out. We hand raked a large portion of the trail, but there are a bunch of trees down that need cut yet and it the rest of it needs finished. I'm gonna take wed. or thurs. off work and head up to try and finish it up. I took a few pics just to show the damage...

    salamander

The wife and I made it back up to the Moon yesterday early a.m. and made some progress. It rained the entire time we were there, we got a lot of trees cut off the trail and did some more raking, but the trail was a little like a creek down on the bottom... It was cut short by phone calls from the schools and my sister, schools were letting out and the water was rising in my sisters basement. So back to Bloomsburg for a long night of moving stuff from basements and other assorted fun.

Is it possible to get to moon lake with all of the flooding? I was thinking about doing some trail work tomorrow.

A friend who lives on 29 said the road is out by the dam. So I'd come across 118 then down to Moon.

With all the recent rain and severe flooding, is the Moon rideable.

Don't know what rain did, but Moon tends to handle that pretty well. A couple trails like JKE/The Dark/Thorny/lower TRex2/Watkins will probably be wet/muddy for a day or so but otherwise okay.

Area right next to the lake I'd expect to be pretty dang wet too, but not many of the trail actually go there.

Moon is essentially up on the hill, so not really in thread of flooding like something closer down.

Still, I find myself thinking about a ride this morning and wondering whether it's worth going to any trail right now. We did has some more rain last night, but not a bunch.

Amy and I just rode the Moon at 11:30. Natures way to Deacon to ledgeview to 8 to edge to old yeller to t-Re2 backwards to t-Rex1 to 8 backwards. Everything except the double track going to natures way is pretty much dry.
