Cool-blue Rhythm Merli, Hillbilly trail redesign 4/6/13

With 14 years of riding this old trail it was time for a redesign and Gene took the task and invited workers. Saturday morning myself, Rob as well as Jeff were hard at work on the mountain. Last time Gene, Rob and myself worked together it was on the Nature Conservancy's Moosic Mt build! It was nice to work with old friends again.

The morning was cold, snow and ice still occupied the mountain in spots as well as a cold north wind, yes this is Merli and can be expected even in April.

Trail work accomplished, Hillybilly trail now flows across the many ledges of Merli, including many great rock features and very pedalable both ways as Jeff tested it, and as an added plus mileage was added also!

With a possible upcoming race here this will be so much fun to race on. Merli is a super park and I for one intend to hit it many times this year!

I think the quote for the day was spoke by Gene "I love power tools" Rob had more stuff than hardware store!

    Good Stuff here!
    Thanks guys, great work!

If you start from the parking lot and ride the typical clockwise direction (Squeeze Play, Handlebar, My Brother's Trail) you'll come out to the strip mine field that overlooks Carbondale. Pedal back up to the lake and take the left to the very top of Merli. The new trail rerouted the old fall line trail. It can be ridden up from the boat launch side of the lake where they did the timbering a couple years ago Ttyl, Fahn

Ps, Lee, it was good working with you again.
