Thanks for the invite and lunch & ICE CREAM...
...I think we ironed out a pretty good 2nd loop, of 5.5 miles, that we can connect, to our other loop and expand from there. After riding the Lyon for years with Motos it was nice to hook up the same trails with mt bikes although the 2.5 mile climb at the beginning is a real leg ripper!
It was great to see both sides of the valley a unique thing about that area, the old mine, eagles nest and the tunnel are super highlights! Those Big Rock outcrops make for a place could definetely hold a World Round Moto Trials competition!
I know as you said we definitely can get 25 plus mile loops cause we have done them with the Motos, just have to work out a plan to avoid the straight up stuff, that stuff would be good on the way down though...LOL
As soon as we can lets ride the old CNJ rail grade, to ridge trail, cut off at the climbing wall and head towards Moc. I have to look on my maps for more corridors to access the other side of the valley. The ex GF used to ride horses over there, as I remember there was a route behind the town of "Lee" formerly Glen Lee that would end up across from the climbing wall. Then we could hook that up to the climbing wall dirt road, then Moc then back to Glen Lyon. Can you say "mega" miles!
Another good thing is the terrain isn't effected by rain
