    Mainville

Naner, Wyatt, Colby, Bear, Mini (in his triumphant return to the saddle) & myself hit some of the roads at Mainville today. The trails are still socked in but at least we found some dirt. (or should I say mud?)

4.9 miles out, 4.9 miles back, 2500ft of climbing (1100 ft of it over 2 miles), max grade >20%.

Google Earth File -or- GPS eXchange File

    Climbing, climbing, CLIMBING...

    Ooooh, Shiny!

Ewww, Not so shiny, but remember, Chronic Cycling is NOT ...

And for the record, the application of wax to the frame and fork lowers paid off, a quick rinse when I got home and the bike is just as clean and shiny as it started the day. Cool!

Thanks guys, needed, ride. Good to see y'all again. Good to meet you Minny, good hanging-in-there!

yeah, i'm thinking about "treating" mine for more crap rejection, adding some stickers to bling it up, and mounting it back on. Gonna be a wet couple months and I *like* my corneas the way they are now (even if they make me near sighted).

    Mainville

Looks like you guys had a good ride! With that mud spatter, I was beginning to think you had to have freckles to ride today. Bear, the bike looks amazing!!! I didn't get out riding today, I have to play with my rear wheel since it resembles an album left out in the sun...but I did get my MOTO ready!!!!
Waging war on my pedals every chance I get!!!

ok, i'll see if I can rig up a fender for my glasses.

it's all about the bike, as the man said.

moto, you should see it live and in person.

Or maybe just ride with a full-face helmet and a fake turtleneck collar velcro-stretched under the chin?

Yea that does suck. Sorry about that dr6. Would have loved to have seen your handlebar cam footage on the long muddy downhill. And yes communication & organization was definitely at an all time low on this one.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, man if I only had one of your cell numbers.

I tried GPSing a few parks in the area, but nothing panned out.

On the way back I stopped at the Wetlands area by the Power Plant, I got in a few miles there.

I'll send you a PM with my number.

    Good stuff!

Do you guys know about the singletrack there in the State Game lands? It is one of the few game lands that is still (legally) open for mountain biking (last time I heard).

I'd like to get a few good shuttle days going there... 600 vertical feet of shuttling up an OK gravel road, then it is mostly down and fun... except for a 100 foot vertical climb near the end. It is no Diablo, a DH bike would be a little overkill. Definitely doable on a hardtail, but but pretty bumpy in a few places.

I have a little trailer that could be modified to hold a few bikes.....
You better just go ahead and drop that seatpost down to the reflector... the trail gets pretty rough down there.

We shuttled it a couple times last year.

Bling Bling, loved that Titus!!! Very shiny!! Is that area above the shock cut out custom! The welds look great on the bike! Awesome riding guys!! I talked myself out of road riding on my mtn. bike today and now I'm mad! Oh well there's always tomorrow!

The frame is actually "off the shelf" - standard medium for that model/year.

A year or two earlier they didn't have the cutout in the seat-mast tube you are referring to, but added it for clearance for shocks that have oil reservoirs (like my roco, or the stock fox that came on it).

And yeah, not many people made welds as good as Titus back then, but many more do now.

    Keep the rubber side down!

Crap, Mainville! That's right in my backyard, living in Sugarloaf. Never knew that there were trails there. Any info on those trails? Where's the parking to start the ride?
    Thanks in advance

Nando, nice to see you pop up! Man, you are missed up here too! You like I how "represent" my people?

'socks, she's way fancier than I deserve, BUT it's tOo LaTe to take her away from me!

I still can't believe I got up that hill with the gearing on that bike. 32x32 "low" gear on a 37# machine. It's going to be an "interesting" spring but I'll get stronger, die trying, or ride the little bike with the granny gear...
