There's been many instances of mountainbikers seeing hunters at Sals with muzzleloaders in the past week or so.
According to the park regulations, the only hunting with firearms permitted is with the junior hunting program. This is where a youth and his/her sponsor can hunt for deer with shotguns using slugs. This program is during the regular deer season only.
The guy I saw was hunting from a tree stand and was not with a youth. He fired the gun he was using about 150' from me. He was looking downhill toward the lower red trail around the berms. This stand is maybe 100-200 feet from the trail so he may even be shooting past it.
Someone called the SGC office in reading and they said call the Sals police if you see illegal hunting at Sals. You could also call it poaching.
