    Google Earth Test

    Hey guys and gals;

I tried something with google earth....I put tracks in there from rides I did this year. I saved them all to my places, and I'm looking to see if I can share them. I have the .kml file. I'm willing to send it to someone that is willing to try and see if it works on your google earth.

    Let me know.

What's up Jason?!? I'd be interested in checking it out. I am in the process of trying to DL, sift, sort, and organize all the tracks on my GPS for something similar. Being a complete idiot doesn't help matters.

BTW... rode the south loop at Allegrippis in the snow this past Sunday... what a blast!

Guys, I've just done a ride, I've put the route on Google Earth and saved to My Places. Is there a way I can now put it into a post as a link so people can click on it and go whizzing off to GE if they have it?. I gather I need the .kml file but I haven't a clue where to find that...... Thanks.

I think it would be great to have a separate forum where we could discuss GPS and map related subjects. These to links may help some.

    https://sites.google.com/site/gmapst...etween-my-maps

    https://sites.google.com/site/gmapstips/

I've been riding in one area a lot and have been trying to combine all the maps for awhile with limited success.

Another way to share a GPX, indirectly, if you have a web site to put them up, is to tell Google Maps to load it, and then share the link to *that*.

    - upload KML (or KMZ) to someplace on the WWW, set the URL of the file aside
    - go to Google Maps
    - In the location bar enter the URL
    - this should pull up your KML into the map on screen
    - you can then use the link button on the page to get a URL that is *your* KML on *that* map

So, for example, I uploaded a file that has the track log from a ride I did in AZ a couple years ago at the AZSF 2012 gathering

    Sdona - Highline - Hoggs Heaven.kml

Which ended up a the following URL on my own www site

    http://www.bearandwife.com/bear/maps...s%20Heaven.kml

So I took that URL and pointed Google Maps at it and this is the link to that

    http://goo.gl/maps/zkp7s

    Cheers!
