FYI. Hawk/Blue mtn rides. Tues, thurs, weekends.

Come one come all...mostly double track, some single track. Huge climbs, cardio intensive. Usually ride every Tuesday and Thursday night. Sat or Sunday depending on group and weather. Great views and fun.

Reply if interested. Different starts each week. Never boring. The more the merrier!

Thanks for the PM, Vetmotox. I can't PM you back until I have 10 posts, but I'm definitely interested in doing some rides.

    Good job!

    Guys thanks so much...

...for the tour of your trails!

Tony and I had fun, loved the high energy climbing. Great challenge! Excellent view from the "Pinnacle" can't wait to attend when the sun is shining brighter. Hope to get down again with more friends if that's OK with ya! Let me know when ya wanna ride at our local trails. We can plan it when you have a "Doug" weekend.

We hit Cabela's for grub after the ride really made for a great finish to the weekend. I'll post pics here as soon as MTBR's pic loader is up and running again.

Nice to ride with all you great riders!
    Thanks

Glad you guys enjoyed it. You mashed the $%# out of that single speed! Good riding. As always, look forward to the next ride.

Hopefully get up your way sooner than later.

Next time we'll have to hit up Port Clinton Hotel post ride for some "carbo loading" HUGHMUNGOUS portions.

Anyway, good times. Enjoyed your's and Tony's conversation and fellowship.

    Doug

I stumbled on this thread while looking for info on mountain biking trails in the Kempton area. I grew up in Kempton, and spent most of my free time hiking around Hawk Mountain and the forest around the Pinnacle.

Anyway, I've moved away and do more mountain biking than hiking these days. I'm going to be home for a few days this month, and I'd love to get some riding in. What trails go to the Pinnacle? NEPMTBA mentioned one in post #10. I know that you can't ride on the AT - can you ride on the game land trails?

    Thanks in advance!

i've thought about riding up to the pinnacle as well, but i was always under the impression that it was a no-go for bikes. i know the AT is not bike friendly at all (and in PA it's mostly rocks anyway), but the Pinnacle trail itself is actually just a side/option trail off of the AT so maybe you won't get any crap about it in that section.

The only routes that I'm aware of that would be able to be ridden easily is first from the hamburg reservoir straight up the blue blazed trail and then make a right to the AT toward Pinnacle, and the other being the Weiser trail or Port Clinton Fire tower road. I know the way you guys are describing is further up the trail at Hawk Mtn, but I don't even know what the trail is like there, I never actually hiked that small section despite the fact that I've done just about every mile of the AT in PA.

I would definitely like to know about other options though, I love going there for a nice easy day hike, riding the bike would be even better. I just never did because I figured it would cause a problem.

Just a short section of AT to get to pinnacle. I yield to hikers. My understanding was you can get away with it if double track, which that section is. Anyway, I will continue til told by authority otherwise. I never got crap from any hikers.

Don't do it often, plenty of other riding on hawk. We use hawk for climbing and training. I can ride there from my house.
