    Good job! First Snow Ride........

...............Jonzie, Hickster & I hit Geisinger for the first ride in snow of the year. It was a good ride - much better traction than I would have expected in such conditions. Saw a few hunter - type vehicles in the parking lot, but didn't run into any on the trails.

Are the Geisinger trails in Danville or Wyoming valley? If they are in the valley I'd love to hit them. Trail head?

    Good job! First Snow Ride.....

HOLY OVERKILL, BATMAN!!! I want that Snowblower...err, snowdestroyer...err, snowpulverizer....well, you get the idea!!!

Of course if you can't get ahold of a SnowTerminator this might also work. It could also be duplicated with a few thousand cans of Aqua Net hair spray and a Bic lighter!

the Ivy handles really well, it's easier to recover a slide with a light stiff bike I think. Didn't ride with Andrew, but check my post on 650b forum. He had a cool bike today.

I too had my first snow ride this year, was really fun cuz I got to finally try out my studded tires. They were great on the patches of ice I hit here and there. I was up near Jim Thorpe on the Broad Mtn Loop. Saw like 6 other cars with bike racks, didn't think that many people would be out. I want to hit up Geisinger one of these days too.

    Wyatt's bike.....

Jeff, wyatt will have to elaborate more, but his bike isn't SS, it's internally geared. Or perhaps the builder himself would care to give us the lowdown. ManMonkey are you out there? We miss ya, dude!!

Fleet is an understatement. He is a bike whore. Here is a very small sampling of bikes he's had past and present. Bear in mind he's owned so many bikes that's there's simply some that I don't have pictures of.

That is cool! How well do those internal geared hubs work as compared to a more traditional setup?

Thanks for the good words on the bike. I wish I could tell you. I actually built that bike for myself, but wyatt79m wouldn't let me move to Missouri without selling it to him. It's designed for and IGH or single-speed setup. You can use a 100mm fork for quick single-track work, or the long-rake low-trail folk I built for it as a cargo bike. Here are some pics straight after paint.

Is there a working website for Ivy Cycles? I had my heart set on an EWR for my next bike but lately I've been oogling some other frames, and IGH's, and I'd like to check out these Ivys some more. The link in your sig doesnt' appear to work

Edit: Sorry if I'm further derailing this thread!

Sorry my host server is down this week hopefully it'll be back up soon, but it's out of date anyway. You can search "Ivy Cycles" in the search bar and get a couple threads I did in other forums. Here's a link to my Flickr page which has a couple informative threads. Also you can send me a PM at ivycycles[AT]gmail[DOT]com.

I have been interested in this type of setup for awhile...was not sure of application....your use would match what i would be lookin to use it for also....have heard lots of good stuff about the shimano Alfine system....have rented bikes with 3 speed Nexus...they performed well but i always used them on a bike path or roads. Thx. J
