    Copperheads at Camp Mack.

Be very careful if riding Camp Mack near Eagle Rock. I have had 2 different reports within the last week that there are copperheads up there.
1st report was a large adult and 2 smaller ones on Thursday last week,
2nd report was 1 small one on Monday in the same area.

    Copperheads at Camp Mack.

Proof. A couple months back eastcoaster and I were sitting next to these two specimens at eagle rock for a few minutes while we were catching our breath before we noticed them. They are pretty docile so I wouldn't sweat it. But I have seen one or more up there on several occasions myself. They like exposed sun in the mornings and under rocks in the evening. But again, they aren't really aggressive.

PointerDixie was kind enough to not let on that I was sitting fairly close to the one in the foreground in his photo when he noticed the snake. I was out of there so fast that I think that my knees were hitting my chin because I was high stepping it so much!
(I was able to hold onto my "man card" though. I did everything except scream like a little girl when it happened.) Haha!
They were docile. The only way I think they would have done something is if one would have stepped up onto the spot where they were sunning, step on them, etc.
Just be cautious when up there. This time of year they're sure to be out warming up in the sun when they can. Look before you step and you should be fine.

Copperheads are very docile until provoked (as are most critters)
    Nice pics and beautiful snakes!

I found this guy at High Rocks. I stopped right by him, looked down and he was sitting there.

Awesome shot. They really are pretty snakes.

I suppose I was desensitized to snakes from all the WDBs in AZ. .

I did hear there were some babies up there last week. I would be even more careful about those. Didn't see any on Sunday up there and we were there for a while.

And notice I neither confirmed not denied eastcoaster's keeping or losing of his man card.
