    Broad Mountain Loop

Hit broad mt loop, one of the trails that introduced me to my biking, this past weekend. It was only slightly uncomfortable to ride sections due to the ballast placed. In a few places they have already added screenings or 2A modified on top of the ballast, which gives it a rail trail feel. By the time they are done you'll be able to ride the loop in less than an hour and probably on a cyclecross bike. I must admit it is disappointing to have lost the stream crossings due to bridges. Other than that the trails including DP are in fantastic shape, even the areas that were burned. Recognize that those areas will fill in with heavy undergrowth and probably lots of thorns over the next few years. Nothing a little trim won't fix.
