    Boilo for the Holiday

With Christmas just a day away I thought I'd pass on this link I found about Boilo, a favorite cold weather drink of the eastern PA Coal Region.

My son (who just turned 21) and I made a batch that used apple cider as the basic ingredient.

    Merry Christmas!

    mmmmmBoilo....

....had some Thanksgiving morning.....SlowDave and OneGearGood provided it after a ride....OneGearGood even had his mini camp stove to heat it up....hoping SlowDave brings some for after the Christmas Eve ride.......
There are two paths you can go by but in the long run........

got some but its not the real stuff, it is real hard to find the most important ingredient to make the authentic Boilo, so if anyone can help me out on that it would be greatly appreciated

I made Boilo once, many years ago, but my recipe left out this important part:

NEVER ADD THE ALCOHOL TO THE BOILO WHILE IT IS COOKING or NEAR FLAMES. SEVERE FIRE DANGER!

It foamed up, boiled over, and burst into flames. No damage, just one of those "DOH!" moments.

I had some of the best that I've ever tasted back in November.
Made by a guy from the Brandonville area.....

In my neck of the woods of the Coal Region, we call boilo made with apple cider "Hot Apple Pie".
Good stuff, but be careful, it kinda sneaks up on you - if you know what I mean.
