Cool. My Facebook page is blown up with pictures of people getting out for a NYD ride. It was cold but just a light covering of snow on the ground. We rode Brady's Run Park.

Last year there was a lot more snow. We rode, but it was a struggle.

Hey sml-2727 I would love to learn the south park trails. I live in Uniontown and all my regular trails are up in the mountains and hold snow way to long. Do you ride through the winter at South Park?

Yeah, me and my nephew ride every Sunday. If your interested in joining us sometime just let me know. We normally do around 8-10 miles depending how cold we get, last week it was actually pretty nice so we did closer to 12 miles.

I wouldn't mind getting in on that some time! I live in Beaver Falls but work in Bridgeville. Id like to learn my way around South Park since its pretty close to my job.

My first MTB ride of 2014

Got out with Aaron and Flurry this morning for my first ride of the year. A brisk 14 degrees on top of the Broad Mt. Did a short loop on some of the A.S. and out the gameland road. Nice packed jeep trail on the road so we didn't have to push through inches of snow on the way out.

Both of us were using eggbeater clipless. I used to use Garneau neoprene covers, but my lovely wife got me some sweet L.G. 0° boots. Aaron was running regular shoes, and I can't believe his toes didn't freeze off. The plastic buckle though......did not survive.

Too much snow. Dirt Road through the gamelands hasn't even seen enough traffic to pack things down. Anyone riding around pittsburgh lately?

Zach, I moved to Uniontown about a year ago. Where do you usually ride? I haven't really met too many other people in the area that ride.

Before Uniontown I lived in Jefferson Hills for a little bit. Rode South Park often. There are some fun trails there.

Also, how does the Krampus ride? I've been real tempted to build a fatbike with all the snow that Ohiopyle and ridges get.

Usually ride at quebec, ohiopyle stuff before or after work in the summer, coopers, big bear lake, some trails that do not exist in no particular place close to town, and my go to after work hurt session is to ride up lick hollow to pine knob then climb to skyline on the dirt road and hang a right to head to the whitetail trail parking lot and descend back down to town.

Krampus seams awesome, only a couple rides on dirt since i finished the build. for what you are describing, you want to go full fat. And with the snow that we have up there now, you would be pretty limited to the dirt roads. I thought about getting some snowshoes to "groom" some of the local single track...but might as well enjoy the xc skis. Let's ride sometime. there are now officially 4 riders in Uniontown that i know about...

Cool. I've ridden most of Ohiopyle, parts of the Whitetail trail and Pine Knob road and a little bit at Coopers Rocks. I tried riding up Pine Knob trail from Lick Hollow once, but it seemed extremely rock with no good lines going up or down. Maybe I need to try when its not covered in ferns.

Once the trails dry out we'll have to meet up to ride. I'm pretty slow though. I need to do more trail rides to get in better shape. I spent most of last summer at Seven Springs riding downhill.
