Rode with a few of you guys at Swatara a little over a year ago (specifically mtbbiker64 and Bikergirl)... maybe Mrs. PD214 and I can make it up for this?

Are these trails SS friendly or should we bring the geared bikes?

There's a couple inclines may challenge you, depending on your strength, but for the most part I'm sure you'd be fine on a SS. Lots of locals ride it on a SS.

Pd214, u will b fine on the ss. As bear said there are a couple of climbs but it depends on which way u ride the trail. They might end up being downhills. Either way u will b good. Looking forward to seeing uboth.

Sounds good. Is there still snow on the ground up that way?

I'll talk to Jennifer about it today to make sure she didn't make plans for us already, but I think we're probably in. I googled the park and couldn't find a specific address for directions... anyone got an address I can plug in?

There may be a patch here and there in the woods but the trails are clear. We rode there sat on the snow covered trails. Great time. Not sure of the actual address. Maybe bear or lee or someone else mite know. I'll see if i can find out. If not it is easy to get to. I'm assuming u would b coming up 81N.

1/1/14 Big New Years Day ride at 10AM, Main Gate, See ya at da mOOn!

Thanks!!! Yeah I have been enjoying the snow here too. Although snow also affects my bike choice since my new SS has ardent 2.4 front and rear. It's like a mini-fat bike.

I'll talk to Jennifer and will post today whether we can go

    I don't have a street address and can't easily find one, but geo-coords for the front gate are N 41.252159 W 76.056435

If you look at maps online don't be distracted by the Rt 4 that goes into the park from Atherton Rd, it doesn't really exist as an access rode.

The front gate is on Atherton Rd a bit less than a mile off Hwy 29.

If you're coming up from south, on I81, take the Hwy 29 exit from 81 heading towards Nanticoke.
Cross the river on 29 and wing-it south (aka:left) onto Rt 11, Hwy 29 and 11 co-exist for a brief time.
A bit over a mile later turn right at the light (just past JJ Banco's) onto Hwy 29, there is a brown sign for Moon Lake park at this intersection.
A bit over five miles later turn left onto White Oaks Drive/Hartman Rd (can't remember what name is on the sign at 29). This is just after/uphill from passing the reservoir.
    Stay left onto Atherton Rd
The park entrance should be very obvious, a bit over half mile later.

    Cheers

Sounds good. So I can plan accordingly on the home front (i.e. have someone let the mutts out to pee if they need it), about how long do you suppose we'll ride?

Got the camelbaks and everything but the bikes loaded up, and we're planning on heading out about 7:40... should put us there around a quarter til... we'll be in a silver Subaru Forester. Wife has an orange Santa Cruz and I will have a blue Canfield YelliScreamy or a Black Canfield Nimble9... haven't decided on the bike yet.

Now we just have to remember to try and keep it mild during tonight's festivities.

Great ride. What a cool place. But more than that it was great meeting you folks. Nice set up with the grills, crockpots, etc... too. Next time we'll bring some more to contribute! Thanks for showing us around and we will be back.

    Happy New Year too.
