Why do I ride? Because if I don't, I'll fall over.

Plain and simple: Mountain biking is fun!

The side-effects are fitness, friends, stress management, being outdoors, challenge, adrenaline, seeing the world, breathing fresh air, and enabling me to eat all the awful foods that would otherwise turn me into a slug

There's no "reason". I just I like it. I like the woods, I like the physicality of it, I like the bike, I like the endorphin high afterward enhanced by a beer.
Use it, use it, use it while you still have it.

I ride as it is a form of exercise that I do not hate. Also, I think it is fun to ride out through the woods on a dirt path. But it can turn from fun to boring fast if you don't have the proper bike. I need a full suspension bike.

^Yep, my hard tail made me ride slower and more cautiously...that's why I finally bought a FS this summer, much better ride!

You know how it feels when you run screaming from too many hours on the computer, throw your leg over your bike and climb for 30 minutes. By the time I reach the ridge top, see the Golden Gate and breathe in the fresh air, my mind...I find the Wizard.

I ride for the fun of it. I also love the health benefits, I mean it takes strength, endurance, balance, etc. All while outside!

I have to counteract all the beer I drink, and get the ADHD lead out of my system.

My rides start pre dawn for the most part. To be alone with God and country before the world awakens, to hear the roar from the river rapids, to see a squirrel scampering about, the charging goose and her young. To start the day with whatever surprises await only those who rise to encounter them.

Wading a trout stream with a flyline looping overhead fore and aft slinging diamond-like droplets of water glistening in the slanting sunlight--do that for me.

Peace of mind when I ride by myself, being able to ride with my wife and my brother and the trophies (beer) at the end of the ride!
