Video: Stunt rider jumps Chris Froome at Tour de France

Some local mountain biker wanted his 15 seconds of fame on the Tour de France by jumping over the head of Chris Froome on the final climb to Annecy-Semnoz on Saturday.

He missed Froome on the frame by a second.

What I don't like about this is that he's jumping over people without their consent. That's a risky maneuver and he's putting people in some degree of danger.

I like the "rebel" part of it!!!!!

There are just so many issues I can think of if something goes wrong and he crashes on the road. Let me just take the most obvious...

The jumper has a flat or mech right at the approach of the jump and goes flying into the road and takes out a rider, or even Chris Froome. I'm guessing that would have given all the others behind yellow enough time to catch up.

So here you have an mtb rider taking out the leader of the TDF. Yeah, there's no headline all over the world there.

The thing I'm worried about is the lesser skilled amateur copycat jumpers who'll be trying to do this in TDFs to come.

No different from the clowns in costumes chasing the TDF leaders...

Whether he made it over frooome or not, you're half a world a way, don't even know his name, and you just posted a video of him in a public forum for even moar people to see (adding to his 15 seconds). I'd say he was successful, if fame was his goal.

Yes. If you Google "Dave Watson" you'll see a clip of that one too. Less "artsy". And, perhaps good Karma, he stuffs the landing.

So? you also don't know froooomee, and probably don't know a single person in the tour... or, maybe you do, who cares. Name or not, you still promoted his stunt.

being a long time fan, one letter(ok, a few) describes the racing at this year's tour...zzzzzzzzzzz huck it if it's gonna be like that.

they need to end a stage at les 2 alpes during crankworx that or have cavendish and sagan do manuals down ventoux.

I think it's only half full of dopers now..................

You know, glass half full or half empty..........

I watch some, but the it's only exciting at the end or crashes. The time trial days I skip entirely.

Yeah, I don't get that "last day, no racing" thing.

I also think they should do away with teams. Every man for himself. I know that's unrealistic, but it would be more fun to watch.

HAHAHA Unrealistic yes but, I agree; how interesting would THAT be? Basically, it then becomes one giant time trial (on road bikes of course) with penalties for drafting. Way cool. I figure from 198 starters there would under 100 finishers. It would be awesome indeed. Just like the old days when the tour first began.

at the very least get rid of the race radio in the riders' ears. it allows everyone to sit up and an "attack" becomes a joke. between motos, the helis, and team cars quarterbacking a klick away it's boring as sh*t. zero tactical aggression.
