Riding is more than trails, more than descents, more than gear. Riding is, most importantly, about the people you meet, the friends who inspire you and bring you joy as you wander together through unknown wildernesses. Those friends who transform a dirt trail, a really expensive transportation device, and a terrified, unassuming rider into a unforgettable memories, opportunities for greatness, and supermen (and women).
I don't ride for me (well, sometimes); mostly, I ride for and because of them, to cherish how much we give to one another and how much we become because of one another.
So, here's a shout out to the amazing riders who navigated Monarch Crest with me.
And all the other riders who've inspired those around them and who have made the impossible, possible.
To those bikers I have yet to meet, and those that I already know - You are awesome; I adore you; and raise my glass to you.
And here's another shout out to my friend Neil, a rookie who discovered this past year that he likes riding his bike for a long time and is currently (not joking) 3rd in the Colorado Trail Race. Go Neil! You can watch him defy odds and the laws of physical endurance here: Neil_Beltchenko - Colorado Trail Race 2013 individual history by trackleaders.com
In short, you all rock!
Now, get out there and ride.
