    "Trail fixit" passion

So today I took a good friend out on his first mountain bike ride, it was a crisp, cool, and beautiful morning, and we started out great until... The rear derailleur hanger broke on the bike my friend had borrowed from his parents, the nub that keeps the arm from swinging forward and letting the tension off the chain was gone, and the chain wouldn't stay on the cog. He was extremely upset, thought he was going to have to walk back to the truck and that he had ruined the ride for the rest of us....not so, we fixed it with what we had in our packs!

so off to work we went

And we came up with this

which got us 8 miles back to the trailhead!

It was a great morning, and I'm sure I have gained our sport a new member!!!
My friend's step dad, a long time cyclist was taking the pictures, he is truly an amazing athlete! And I was glad for the chance to ride with him!

Great job! The stories that are filled with the memories are always the best afterwards.

There is an interesting point in the experience of e new ride; when they realize that there,is a,way to do this.
    I don't rattle.
