Totally off the subject... Lunar eclipse photo...

Had to work hard getting this shot, as I don't have a tripod (Yo, Santa!).

Very nice. I got up at 3 this morning to watch it. I tried taking a picture of it but you can barely see the moon.

Here's mine. I need a longer lens, a better tripod, and a remote shuter release.

Here's mine at that stage. It's a little blurry, but not too bad. I have a 55-250 lens and it did OK. The tripod would have made it much easier, especially when auto-focus was not an option.

    Sceam,

I am surprised there was a hole in the clouds. I was going to get up and look but figured the cloud cover would be too much. Nice photo's.

I stayed up late with my daughter to catch these. I kept thinking that the sky would cloud over completely (there was a thin layer of clouds at first), but to our delight, it cleared up!

    Very cool pics!

Since I was up all night at work we had to go out and check it out. Was a little cloudy at first but then cleared off.

We got up at half past midnight to check it out. In Bozeman it was clear and cold. The train whistle was blowing a mournful echo, and people were out in their yards up and down the street. Neat.

    Eclipses rock!
I don't know what trail we're on, but at least it's getting dark

Taken with a G7 mated to a homemade mount on my Celestron C8. Magnification + clock drive= I usually use a CCD for astrophotography but didnt have time for stacked images. Had to shoot this through a break in the clouds. Little bit of photoshop to bring out the highlights and red color.

Nice! Imagine going uphill under 1/6 gravity, bike weighing just 5 lbs., it's weight weenie paradise! So when will the first lunar mountain bike ride happen?

To all who contributed photos - Thanks! I guess I don't keep up with news or amything of the sort and didn't know about it Was wondering to myself when I took my dog for his late walk @ 10pm how bright the moon was and wishing I was on the trail riding to enjoy it. I think that when it happened down here we also had a lot of cloud cover as we had a bit of rain early in the AM - was also a little darker than usual around 05:45 when I woke up. Oh well hopefully these clouds will clear tonight to at least get a nice moon rise shot.

    This from Darkslide in Passion

He has a Celestron and used a bit of Photoshop to great effect. Nice job!

I would have loved to see it, but it was snowing and completely cloudy. I had planned on watching a live feed of it, but had to be up early so I decided I would just check out pictures instead. Hopefully I will be able to catch the next one.

Pretty amazing photo screampint, eclipse or not. You put twist on eclipse. More about the light than the shadow. That it what makes this photo great.

Nice pictures. But having to get up at 4am for work, I just couldn't make myself get up another 45mins earlier to see it.

I got up at 2:30 here in Connecticut. It was very cloudy when I went outside to look. I was planning to wake the family but it didn't seem worth it so I went back to sleep. I wonder if it cleared up here like it did in TX. Thanks for the great pics.
