Like others said, Utah would seem to have the most variety, from wooded and high alpine to desert to Moab slickrock. More than enough to keep me interested. Although Colorado has a lot of similar stuff, and Oregon has an excellent variety of trails and climates (alpine in Cascades, big tree rainforest, dry desert near Bend, plus excellent built parks at Blackrock and Sandy Ridge). I love riding in the Tahoe area of California, too. I guess it is probably all good!
Considering unrooted's original post I'll suggest British Columbia. On Vancouver Island alone:
" Months of rideable weather" = 12
"Variety of riding styles" = All styles
"Miles of trails" = Thousands.
"Not too crowded" = I have over 500 miles of singletrack outside my back door. If I ever see another cyclist on it, it's a surprising thing.
Vancouver Island is less than 1/10th of the riding available in B.C.
Chattanooga, TN hands down. Everything else stank and I wouldn't ride through it to even get back to the only place the good Lord built with His hands Chattanooga.
BTW, my opinion may change as I have never ridden outside of the dirty south. I will revisit this after my trip out west.
