    SSuffering SSycamore

I packed the "travel office" bike along with some equipment for our new office in the Thousand Oaks area. I figured I'll do this on a Saturday and avoid the traffic nightmares of traveling from Orange County. It took a little longer than I thought to complete the setup and then I got a little lost finding the trailhead. So, the late start cut me short of reaching Malibu, but it was enjoyable none-the-less. What an incredibly beautiful trail area! I can't wait to plan some "work" in the new office.

I'm starting to love the rigid SS. Even on the climb back to the parking lot, it was a nice in the saddle slow ascent. I stuffed myself with all you can eat pancakes at IHOP after the ride. A little self-indulgence, but I had a craving for pancakes. I don't think they'll let me back in that restaurant.

All I had was my iPhone, so pardon the sub-optimal pics.

Look - Until you get some pics of white ranch in the snow.... stop rubbing it in. Jealousy aside, looks like a great ride.

I miss my home but if I could afford to live in the Thousand Oaks area, I would. It's kind of like a quadruple size (population) Golden without the snow. Ok, and there's an Ocean on the other side of the mountain .

Okay, I've ridden at Sycamore (near Pt. Mugu) a few times and I love riding out there, but I'll be damned if I can't recognize ANY of those sections of trail?!
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!

The singletrack? Most of the pics I took were just off the midpoint of the Sycamore paved path. I didn't know where I was going so I actually ended up riding down and past the old house and continuing on a dirt path (some pics from that). Then I realized I must be going wrong, road back up to the mid point and turned off on to a trail going southwest from the rec center?

All had tire tracks and I didn't see any "no bike" signs on them. They were setting up for an Xterra race on some of the trails.

I usually go so fast through there everything is blurry (kinda like when the Millenium Falcon enters warp drive) so that must be why I missed it . . .

One of our home rides in San Diego is "Sycamore canyon". Throws me every time i hear someone reference the LA version, especially considering the surrounding terrain looks almost identical on pics.

Nice pics! Sycamore is a fun trail... I usually ride the area at least twice a week, most of the time I start from the beach side. Once in a while I start from the Wendy trailhead after work.. here's a pic from my ride couple of weeks ago.
