Shaking fists at MTB gods passion

Took new Orbea out this weekend. Had a great ride, bike handled great, until......."pshhhhhh."

Thought I burped....nope....tear in sidewall on brand new tire from knobbies to bead. Tried to boot it with tube...."boom goes the dynamite." Come home to replace tire, notice gouge in rim from top all the way down the sidewall and decent dent. Gouge too deep to sand out. Dent already has crease line. Oh, and the sides of my spd shoe separated when I had a bout of pedal strike.

2 hours = Down 1 new tubeless tire, I pair of shoes, and one rear wheel rim. *shaking fist at sky*

This sounds a lot like punishment for hubris, but you seem like a pretty nice guy. Who knows what's going on in the mtn bike gods' pantheon; maybe they had a screaming melt down while arguing about the relative merits of the best wheel size (26/27.5/29er) and confused you with someone else?

That someone else was listening to Barry Manilow on his I Pod while screaming "Strava!" as he forced people off the trail, and gave himself a little selfie high five back in the parking lot because he is such a fabulous rider. THAT guy was supposed to be scheduled for a broken derailleur hanger at the point furthest from the trail head, the wheel issues that you ended up with and stepping in dog poop (brand new Sidis) while walking his bike back to the car.

This whole wheel size thing is getting totally out of hand and is a massive distraction to the mtn bike gods.

Hopefully this will all be sorted out soon and the decent riders of the world will be released from these random afflictions.

I still dont get how OP is passionate about shaking his fists at MTB gods. Pretty misleading thread title.
"Bigring, that's deep. ...Well, I suspect it is. I didn't read it."
