Serrotta officially takes a dump on all previous customers. Death knell.

    What a shyte show.
The death of the group in control now can't come too soon, IMO.

Well, this sucks. What a ****ing train wreck.

    Copy Paste from an email:

"Apologies for the delayed response. Serotta has gone through some changes recently and we are in the process of restructuring.

The current ownership of Serotta which began on May 3, 2012 has made the difficult decision not to honor the original warranty of bikes delivered before that date which were manufactured under the company's previous ownership. This was not a decision we arrived at easily.

If your bike does for some reason require repair due to manufacturing or materials defect in the future, we would evaluate your bike and determine the extent of the damage. If the frame is beyond repair, we will offer you a new frame at 50% of retail price. If the frame is repairable within a reasonable scope, the repair bill would be your responsibility.

If you would like to send in your frame and fork for evaluation, please write back and I will set up an RA for you and send shipping instructions.

Shameful. Seems like the list of NY-based bike companies grows shorter every year.

Worst decision ever is to slap every loyal customer in the face and base your business on new buyers.

Oh no, someone bought a purveyor of over priced, ludicrously customizable toys for the name, and is now screwing their aging, wealthy fanbase. Making the name worth less than ever. Sounds about right. Look for Serottas on Bikesdirect.com. I for one can't wait.

Class action lawsuit. Discovery of all emails and notes involving the decision they didn't make easily. Triple damages and attorney fees. Lessons will be learned.

Are these bikes breaking left and right that they were expecting a deluge of claims?
I don't see where that decision was even based on financial obligations - which drives most poorly-conceived business decisions.

Serotta is but a mere shadow of the company that we all remember from the glory days of the 80's and 90's. This is a last gasp attempt to prevent the inevitable demise of the once thriving company. Stick a fork in it.

especially when your company hasn't made anything worth buying in 20 years, and the business is based entirely on rep from the 70s and 80s. Serotta will probably be a bikesdirect brand in a couple years.
