RR: Whitford Canyon Loop (X-post from AZ)

Arturo and I were pleasantly surprised by the AZT through the Whitford Canyon area. We finished off the ride we started 2 weeks ago, completing a 18.5 mile loop on a combo of forest road (FR650) & AZT. Add this one to your ride list!! It was very comfortable temperature wise too, 66 at the start!! Relaxed pace this loop is about 3-4 hours.

Here's the full ride recap: Whitford Canyon Loop

    A sampling of pics:

    Thanks for the snap Arturo.

Great report! Just bookmarked it for the post-retirement "Do" list. Retire target date is last day of Sept, so gotta get ready!
Amazing that you can have morning temps that cool at this time of year and can get in a ride before the AZ summer blast furnace fires up is great.
CenTex mornings are steamy; at 2 am it is still 80 degrees and will chill out to 77 degrees at 5 am; it just never really cools off. Did I mention the humidity?
Anyway, enough of our weather report.
I'm very fond of the desert landscapes; that terrain looks so appealing and to get to explore the mystery of an unknown canyon is even better!
Great photos as well. Some + rep headed your way.
REP UPdate: Ooops, sorry. Gotta spread some around first! You're that good.

Looks like a sweet location! I'd like to head out west to ride for a change, but for now I'm stuck on the east coast...

Thanks! If anyone ever finds themself in the PHX area looking for a ride, shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to give a tour of the goods. We have plenty of trail systems to chose from. I feel spoiled sometimes having the AZT only 45 minutes from my front door.
