    Surprised none of the fatbiking crowd has posted any of their pictures in here yet. Having ridden all sorts of bikes through deep standing water, my Surly Pugsley and my 9:zero:7 fatbikes made it seem effortless compared to the other “skinny”*(a.k.a. “traditional”) tired bikes, especially when unseen rounded boulders were at the bottom of the bodies of water I was crossing.

    This creekbed is dry for at least ten months of the year. I crossed it once when the water was flowing, in the dead of winter. Farther up the canyon, where I had to cross it again, it was frozen solid. It was cold.

    I've made some bad decisions like taking the gears off my bike. So here's the warning: Do not as I say, nor as I do.
