Ride Injuries Post a Pic....[GRAPHIC content]

....and a short story about what happened.....

We were climbing at the beginning of a ride Thursday night....took a really un sensational fall.....it happened when a friend ahead fell in a rut .....as i passed him i lost balance and fell over and landed on bar end....maybe 18 inch fall but ....full weight with my chest making contact with end of the handle bar...this really hurt when it happened.....and even more about 5 hours after the ride.......especially when i sneeze/cough.......treating it with "Arnica montana", recommended by my wife....

if the OP's doesn't, then this one might. Received from going OTB on a rocky descent on the bolinas ridge trail. that was the ride that actually made we want to pursue MTB'ing more( and polish my 'skills' ). my apologies if this is TMI

I had these splinters in my ankle for a week after hitting a tree root. Needed ultrasound to find them.

    These are oldies but goodies.
The other knee was also swollen and skun up, but not photo worthy. Also the elbow was missing some skin, but not photo worthy either. I finished the ride, and it took months for the skin to crystallize over and finally heal enough to go without a covering. Now I know what knee cap looks like though.

    Blue Moon

This hurt. Crashed kinda hard on kinda hard ice. I have had about two falls that made me feel like I might not be able to get up. This was one of them.

This one certainly sticks out in my mind. Pretty gnarly IMO

Then there was that guy way back who introduced himself here on MTBR after a crash where he impaled himself in the leg with a brake lever. That one was sick too. LOL Tried to provide a link but couldn't find it. Maybe someone else will find it.

That knee one ouch. This one is only bad because of how deep it was. It has since filled in though and scarred over nicely.

nOOky - Hey, we have ridden motorcyles together. Good see you posting after that pic. That knee looks awful. Any skin tightness from the scarring? Reduced range of motion? Anyhow, if you end up in River Falls, WI there is some decent mtb riding there at Whitetail Ridge.

The knee looks good other than being a big pink scar. All my knees and elbows are scarred up hehe
My niece lives in River Falls, think I did the race there once. Motorcycling has taken a backseat to riding and racing lately...

Goofing around riding some skinnies and went OTBs. Brake lever hit the top of my foot. Pain was intense.

This one isn't gruesome, but had the accident occurred with more momentum it would have been a core sample.

for some reason, that foot one is grossing me out the most, in a "omg that looks painful" way. i had a foot smash that jammed in and turned two of my toenails purple, but nothing like that!

... and if we just ...

I went OTB on a slag gravel downhill.....they scrubbed it for 30 minutes in the E.R.

I was told I wouldn't be racing the 24 Hours of 7 Springs that was 2 weeks later.

    I did though.

Don't have a picture of the injuries, which was mostly a bad scrape on my right hand, but have some still frames from my chest mounted POV camera of what happened in the crash.

First time on Big Bear, took the lead, was going kind of fast and got taken out by a fairly thick branch in the middle of a right turn. The line on the inside looked a bit rocky and my eyes weren't looking to the outside of the trail. One of my gloves somehow came off due to how I was gripping the bar and how the branch took me by surprise.
