Spent the morning patrolling at Heil Valley Ranch. I was there until about noon. There was talk of a fire in the park. I never saw signs of smoke or even the sound of a fire truck. They said it was from lightening and there wasn't a cloud nearby. Odd.
The parking lot was full, but nary a person on the trail.
About two miles in I noticed a nasty clicking sound from my front ring. I tried to ignore it, but my OCD kicked in. My crank was really loose, so I stopped to tighten it. That's when I saw some strange stuff. Looks like it's finally given up the ghost , but I kept going, even though I had to keep tightening the crank bolt every mile.
I really liked those cranks. Yeah, they are beat to heck but I've grown accustomed to them. Maybe I can squeeze another ride out of them with blue locktite.
As I said, I kept going. I wasn't going to let a bolt ruin my day.
