    Post ride Post with photos....

I was brimming with joy as I left you all earlier. The sun was bright and the skies were that beautiful deep blue and I was going riding! As I hit the interstate my smile apeared and grew bigger as the needle to the speedometer swept to the right. Soon I was giggling audibly, what a dork, I thought, but I was on my way! The short drive on the interstate took me to the Kokopelli area. I decided to drive over the ridge as I was short on time and the road looked to be muddy. I started to worry about mud on the trail, but Rustler's is mostly packed sand, so I knew my chances were good.

I hit the trail and for the first time in weeks it was packed enough for a bike, at least in most places. Some sections even had almost dry dirt in the south facing portions. I made it almost all the way around the loop, but ran out of time, as I had a client at 2 o'clock.

    And on to the photos...

    Remember that tree?

    Looking up the trail....

OK, so it wasn't prime conditions, but I was riding, and it was great!

    And down the trail...

I usually fly down this section, but not today.

    Another shot of the trail....

Notice there aren't any other tire tracks. No one else had been silly enough to venture out on the bike.

    Again, just the trail...

This slope faces west, so it still has some time before it's dirt again.

    Two prints...

I got about half way around the trail, where it meets a road, here another set of mtb tracks started, so someone else was as silly as I. But the most intriguing tracks were these. They are not dog prints, too wide and no claws, that means retractable claws which means cat. I know that a bobcat lives in the area, as I have seen her (kittens have been spotted by other people), but I wasn't fortunate enough to see her today.

Here's the first print I saw, my foot is for size reference.

    And the second:

    Cool!

Thanks for the post and remember (with all this cat stuff lately) to try not to become dinner!

    Jeez...

    Scary stuff.

    Bobcats...

I don't know if there is any record of a bobcat ever attacking a human. I have seen her out there and she quietly and successfully melted out of view as quickly as possible.

Don’t kid yourself! Bobcat, lynx, mountain lion, housecat – they’re all psycho when they want to be ;-)

Just look at how pissed this housecat is. You can tell it’s thinking evil thoughts. It just wants to kill someone.

    OK, so I can't be 100% sure...

But I really don't think the bobcat is out to get me. I don't work at cornering it and know that it is a successful hunter, therefore she is not starving and desperate enough to attack unfamiliar prey, not only that, but prey that is far larger than her regular dinner fare (bobcats eat mostly rabbit, although this one caught some sort of a bird, I found the remains).

And what did you do to that poor cat!? I'd be ready to kill too if someone gave me a poodle cut like that!

    LOL!

I know, I was just being facetious.

For the record I had absolutely no part in anything that happened to that poor kitty in the pic ;-) It was just an image attached to an e-mail my friend sent me a long while back with the heading “Never leave your cat alone at a party”. I don’t think it was his cat or anything. Either way, I’d be just as pissed as the cat if someone did that to mine but at the same time, the little “boots” they left are damn funny looking.

    Poor thing.
