Never feel bad about buying a bike. Feel guilty about NOT riding a bike.

Same problem with both. Too much maintenance to make it worth the trouble to have more than two.
The most expensive bike in the world is still cheaper than the cheapest open heart surgery.

Well with bikes that isn't true because the more bikes you have the less maintenance you do per bike.

    If 1 bike = X maintenance
    Theoretically 2 bikes will = X/2, 3 bikes will = X/3, etc.

The difference is you can only ride one bike at a time but with women....well, use your imagination.
Just stick it in granny and start grinding.

Definitely haven't regretted it at all. Check out some of the stuff this bike has let me discover so far:

You can find me in the woods -- playing in the dirt and mud -- on my 2013 Trek Mamba -- or in my 1984 Chevrolet K10.

I'm going to non-concur with your first supposition because in addition to planned parts replacement due to wear, there is the natural weathering and aging issues that affect a bike regardless of miles ridden. So for bike 1 maintenance = worn parts + age/weather repairs + post ride maintenance. With more bikes its maintenance = worn parts/n + n*age/weather repairs + rides*post ride maintenance. Not exactly a 1-1 ratio, but I'm not riding 10 year old weather cracked tires, just because I only have 600-700 miles on them.
