I decided to head out around 5 today for a quick work out ride. Its only about a 10 minute ride to the local trail head where I just ride hill repeats until I can't stand myself anymore.
On my way, almost there, i'm cruising along riding on the sidewalk, going no faster than 13-14 mph, when I cross a driveway. a full size truck is stopped, waiting to get into the thick traffic on the busy road I was riding along. I slow down to about 8-9 mph to see what this guy is going to do. Hes not moving anywhere, theres nowhere for me to go behind him, and the traffic is steady, so I begin to cross the driveway.
as soon as I get in front of the truck, no sooner, no later, he steps on the gas to shoot into traffic, taking me and my bike with him...:skep:
as soon as he realizes whats happening he mashes on the brakes, I quickly gather myself up and pull my bike from under the truck and run out of the road.
Toss my bike in the grass, sit down and felt myself over. Nothing broken, just a very sore leg. didn't even hit the helmet (which I was wearing as always)
The guy was calm, but as freaked as I was. We sat in the driveway for a minute, inspecting me and my bike. Nothing looked dramaticaly wrong until I spun the wheels
the front wheel has a nice wobble in it and the rear wheel barely fits through the rear triangle now. :madman:
after I sort of collected myself, I asked for a ride home, and we threw my bike in the back and he gave me a ride home, which was nice enough.
I got his name and phone number, but thats all. He was an older man, late 50's early 60's perhaps, and he said that he would pay to get my wheel fixed. As I was shaken up, I didn't think to get any other information aside from his name and number...
I have my leg propped up with ice now and several Tylenol extra strengths in me, and I have already dropped my bike at the shop.
Do you guys think I should take any further actions? any recommendations?
Cliffnotes:
Got hit by a truck, got a ride home, bike broke, guy offered to pay for fixes, only got name and numbers, wondering if I needed anymore information
Trying to stay positive as I have a double points race Sunday
