    No doubt, but a rider with a given motor will be faster with fast rolling tires and light wheels than they will with heavy wheels and slow tires.

    Yep they have their place. I've been riding my 2.4 Conti X kings on light but not race wheels all spring. I finally put my race wheels/tires on and the difference in speed was worth a gear or two. It was fun, but I wouldn't use that set up for anything with sharp rocks or pound rock gardens like I do with the fatter, heavier tires and burlier wheels. It really reminded me how much slower a heavier duty wheelset is compared to a race wheelset.

    They do make a difference! Mostly in how often I pinch through the tire and then dent my rim....
