I think Spring is the most beautiful time of year in the foothills around Chico, CA. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long! When the temperature starts hitting about 70F and above, you know it's only a few weeks until the green grass dries up and turns golden for the remainder of the year. But for those few short weeks, you're treated with wildflowers, small seasonal streams and waterfalls, and hills of bright and deep greens. And with temps from the high 50s to mid-70s it's just a perfect time for a bike ride.

Some of the sweetest singletrack in Bidwell Park, along the South Rim (but you gotta work to get here, and back out).
Big Chico Creek. Down in the bottom of the canyon where it's cooler most of the foliage still thinks it's Winter:

You don't "need" a FS trail bike up here, but it sure makes it a lot more fun, especially on the downhills.
