I don't mean to complain, but.........

This is just wrong!!
Enough already. This started last night and kept it up for the next 24 hours. We got about five inches in town and untold feet up in the mountains. AAaaaaaaarrrrragh.
I know, I know. It won't stay around long.... but it just keeps doing it. Anyone else tired of the snow?

Where are you at? Pretty crazy weather in Seattle, we had a drought and warm winter which almost killed the snow pack in the mountains. Which in turn would have left us with a severe water shortage, since the snow pack feeds our resovoirs. Luckily we got a late winter with typical wet weather. It made for great winter riding though.

Imagine

a tourist from Warm & Sunny Tennessee driving solo from Fruita to Denver
in a rental Mini Van (which BTW handles like a pig compared to a lowered S-10).
Said tourist missed his early morning flight (5.5 hours to drive 265 miles?)...got on a 10am flight...leaky fuel kept the plane from a timely take off...tourist obviously missed the connecting flight...was then re-routed to Charlotte...tourist landed in Nashville some 14 hrs later...his luggage landed many many many hours later.

So yeah...snow in May sucks
Next time I'll just fly into GJ.

May hit 80 in NJ today.....

Pulled the surfboard off the rack last night just to drawl. Guess I'll be surfing in a few more weeks and riding in warm weather every night after work for the next six months.

Well, I never did want to move to Nevada for any reason and I'm guessing you don't want anyone else to move there so this all works out in the end.

We got a coating of that in the valleys of SLC this morning, sounds like a couple feet in the mountains when everything stops tomorrow. Looking like no high elevation rides til at least July at this rate. Maybe time to get the snowboard back out or make another roadie down south. Hang in there!

Ely, Nevada. Yeah, I think we got all your moisture this year. It seems like we'll get one or two days of sunshine then it's right back in it. I thought this was supposed to be a desert.

I'm no expert, but I think that earthquake/tsunami thing knocked the earth off its axis and screwed up the weather systems. I'm pretty sure the next ice age is upon us. (anyone see "The Day After Tomorrow" ?)

I didn't care for the eco-proselytizing and the "science" was a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

That movie had about every eco scare tactic the doom and gloomers usually toss about despite the lack of good science to back it up. I was watching it with my daughters and told them to plug their ears to the eco-preaching.

Santa Cruz 'Killer Threads' flash is annoying. Not funny, never was. That's all.

Yeah, I know. I've got a couple of mtb buds who keep trying to get me to take up back country skiing so I won't be so grumpy in the winter.......But...... it's....... SPRING!

Oops. There goes that anger control problem again. Maybe I should look into a set of skis.

KRob - question for you.

What do you know about the heli/snowcat skining operation in Lamoille? I've read their reviews and checked out their website but don't have any first hand knowledge. Since your nearby I'm just curious if you know anything about them.

http://helicopterskiing.com/

We go on a big trip every year and are thinking of hitting these guys up in 06. I like the fact that they have both heli and cat. If the weather is bad you can get on the cat and not lose a full day.

Any scoop from a local?

Thanks,
Troy

Sorry Troy. As you may have guessed from my grumpy attitude about snow, I'm not a skier. I have heard that the heli skiing in the Ruby Mountains is spectacular though.

You might try pm-ing Lamoile or Mountaingirl1961. I think they both live closer to/in Elko (near the Rubies) and I think they ski. Velosapiens may have some knowledge as well. (He's the mtb/moto riding bud who keeps telling me to expand my horizons)
