Gotta say it will be hard to replace...But beyond venting about my lost friend, I'm looking for recommendations. What are really good hardtails, somewhat old-school perhaps, with similar cult followings that can be found fairly cheap, preferably with high end components (less that $1500)?
Some little *****es kicked in my garage window and stole my 2001 Schwinn Homegrown Limited. I rode around town giving the evil eye to every kid around for a couple weeks, jumping to look at any bike I saw or heard, seeing glimpses of it out of the corner of my eye. Visions of the Alamo. But alas, I'll never see it again. I hope it's well taken care of, the *****es...and I hope those bike thieves get what's coming to them in the end. Bad karma that is.
It was the shiny anodized gold, last year they made them. In pretty good shaped for thousands of miles. Still had almost all original components, other than 1 rim and the seat post. Really LOVED that bike-- the only material thing I own that's worth anything to me other than family/friends pictures. Ah well, at least I rode the hell out of it for years. Such a nice bike.
