    F the weather

I'm in a raving-lunatic style bad mood and this post is rage therapy.

F the weather in Georgia. F it all to hell.

I'm am sick and goddam tired of this weather cycle that gives us gorgeous, sunny days Mon-Thu and then torrential downpours on Friday. I travel extensively for work and usually only have Saturday and Sunday to ride. Our trails are apparently as durable as an antique wine glass so if there's even a hint of rain, the trails close for a day or two. Week after F'ing week it's

    Mon: Gorgeous
    Tue: Gorgeous
    Wed: Gorgeous
    Thu: Gorgeous
    Fri: Rain
    Sat: Gorgeous (trails closed)
    Sun: Gorgeous (trails closed)

    F the weather.

Oh, and to make it even better, today was the first weekday in SIX F'ING MONTHS that I've been home on an afternoon when it was light enough to ride. It's been 80 degrees and sunny all week but I was in Chicago where it's been 40 and raining. What's today's weather on this one weekday in a half year to ride?

    You guessed it. F'in rain.

    F the weather.

(Ok, I really have no room to complain. Half the country has been snowed in all winter and I've only really be rained out a couple of weekends. But today really is the only weekday I've had to ride and it is pouring out and I just got a new bike last week. Hence the temper tantrum.)
I live with fear and danger every day. And on the weekends she lets me go mountain biking.

Or Chicago! That is some constant nasty weather. I just wish I didn't keep bringing it back to Atlanta with me!

I can relate -- all month, it's been sweet temps Sunday through Wednesday, threats of rain (some come true, some don't), then Thursday night or Friday, we DEFINITELY get rain, and the temps drop 20 degrees on Saturday. (I work Sundays, so that squashes that; had one good Wednesday, and spent it chasing a job transfer)

    Indiana weather, my tired a$$....

I feel you brother. Up here in Fairbanks, just got a new bike and the snow is BARELY starting to melt. Hopefully we will start to see some single track in next couple weeks.

You mean to tell me there isn't a trail system anywhere near Atlanta that drains well and will be open?

So...um...yeah, well it appears a few of the major trail networks are actually open and dry as a bone. And I might have had a glorious spring ride among the trees, ferns, and other plants in full bloom.

    Re: F the weather

Wish that was the case here, our local MTB club cancelled the trail ride for Knoxville outdoorfest due to trail conditions.... I'm just wondering about the checkpoint race tomorrow

I live in Alaska. It snowed today, but I still rode. In fact, I have ridden in rain, blizzards, on ice covered trails, and in winds so strong that you are literally steering into the wind to keep from getting blown off the side of the trail.

Yea, Alaska... Just put on a good jacket, and ride.

I guess when it comes down to it, I'm happy to live in Texas. Yeah, it's hot as hell, but when it rains the trail may be closed for a day during the summer, and it gets rid of some of the tire swallowing cracks in the fields. This spring has been a little wet, but a day or two closed and back open. It pisses me off because I'm always in a mood to ride, and luckily I work weekends and have middle of the week days off, so I usually have trails all to myself except for a soccer mom or two running on them.
