EAST COAST VIDEO STOKE: From Where We Stand

This year I had the awesome opportunity to be a part of a killer video production showcasing East Coast mountain biking. We all know there are killer trails just about everywhere; you just have to find them. But the professional film crews out there all seem to stay west of the Rockies or in lands far abroad. Nobody seems to know that the eastern half of the U.S. exists in the mountain biking world. Until now.

This is the teaser for the video series From Where We Stand, which will premier later this month. It features riding in Oneonta, NY (my hometown); Vernon, NJ; Reading, PA; and White Clay Creek, DE. We had a 7-person professional film crew led by Tim Stevens of Highball Media from Philadelphia, PA. From Where We Stand was produced by Brice Shirbach and FatTireFests.com and had huge support from the community, which became an underlying theme throughout the production. One thing we do have on the East Coast is a great sense of community among bikers.

As the four segments come out I will be sure to post them to this thread. Also check out www.fattirefests.com to learn more about the production and see some sweet East Coast stoke.

    Cool.

Have met Jeff Lenosky, and Harlan Price came to our local H2H race series at Blue Mtn a few years back and killed it!

My LBS (Briarcliff Bike Works) is owned by a good friend and his son is a student at SUNY Oneonta.

His name is Lucien and he's riding a seriously sweet IBIS Tranny single speed...

    Excellent

Thanks for posting. As an east coast rider who has ridden the west and other exotic locales, I really appreciate what we have. Hey, it's home so you have to learn to love what you've got, right?

Episode 2 is here! Watch as Paul Dotsenko and I show Brice Shirbach what Central New York has to offer. The footage was all shot in Homer Folks State Forest in Oneonta.

The support we had for this project was absolutely awesome and is what sets Oneonta apart from so many other places with killer trails.

Man I love these vids. I live in sunny south florida so it makes me happy that we're getting some attention on the east coast. Sometimes I wish it wasn't called "mountain" biking because that word is so limiting. Every time I tell someone I mountain bike, their response is invariably, "in Florida?" and then I can almost see the thoughts forming in their heads of some paved bike path with some gravel on either side. Any of my broward County/ Miami bretherin will attest that we have some extraordinary riding down here. It's perfect in its own way. I live walking distance from one park, and within a 30 minute to one hour drive of 4 others. All have their own unique personalities and characteristics that make them fun, technical, and exciting in their own way.
