    Downhill race photos

Today I attended the Corral Hollow Downhill Races near Livermore, California. It was a beautiful day and I took hundreds of photos. Below are a few. It will take me a while to post more on my site.

I was told this guy is leading the blind guy behind him.

Great Photos you got there! What shutter speed do you use for shots like that.. I'm guessing 800-2000 depending on the speed of the rider and other things..

These are a little different from your usual postings ... but just as nice.

Nice pics. While not action shots, here are a few I took while bored outta my mind waiting for the raffle and race results.

    1) This hill was steep and I got to see a quad tumble down it. Pretty friggin cool watching that thing tumble and tumble.

    2) Civic parked right next to the mud puddle with the window down and Tacoma blew through the puddle. Ouch!

    3) Monster Energy...that's all I have to say about that.

Thanks! I use a Canon 20D and most shots were taken at 1/1,000 with a 70 - 300 mm lens.

    Nice Event

One of my freshmen racers missed his XC Race as he committed to this one and the work leading up to it for 5 months. We supported his dedication and it looks like it was the real deal. Thanks for your work on this Wherewolf.

I like your use of depth of field in the shots where the riders are airborne. It makes them look like they're hanging out in space!

Awesome photos...particularly like the one of the guy crashing on the steep grassy hillside. Very nice framing.

Did you by chance get any photos of the women's DH? A good friend of mine was racing...brown Sinister R9.

I don't know many bikes so it would be helpful if you gave me her race number and perhaps jersey color. I have a 6-8 shot sequence of that guy tumbling down the hill. Perhaps I can put them into a composite photo.

Contacts under sunglasses or goggles are the way to go, otherwise just don't crash!

i rock a fullface with glasses - sometimes they come off when i crash - sometimes they don't - i also have two pairs - one i wear normally and one for riding - the riding ones i have bent a bit to fit tighter so they are less likely to come off. if you can't get another pair of glasses i would suggest a tightening strap - i found one at some snowboard shop.
    good luck

    Sweet!!!

Those are all sweet pics. I especially like the one with #229...check out his rear tire!!! I love that detail...he must be running really low pressure and/or hammering through the corner, cuz that thing looks like it has some serious torque applied to it!!! Thanks for sharing.
