I wasn't too impressed. The Collective is still my favorite out of the trilogy they have put out. Darren Berrecloth and Cam McCall had pretty boring segments, and I got to see the same crankworx footage as I've seen in several other mtb movies... just at a slightly different angle, playback speed, and music.
Steve Peat, Stevie Smith, and Andrew Shandro had the best riding segments hands down. Matt Hunter was pretty good, Vanderham's stuff was cool to watch too. But Yeah Cam and the Claw put me to sleep this time around.

I will watch it again.... I may have been all amped to see it, have been waiting in anticipation...
But still a great flick, I never payed as much attention to the music this time, I will next, guess far more talking etc, which was good...
Still some smoking good footage.....

They did, but seasons was not included on that list.

I thought the whole thing was rad! I really dig the way they show what goes on in each season and how it adds up to the story of their respective years.
Highlights for me:
Vanderham's parts. His terrain is amazing and his riding is just HUGE! (did you watch his Saint proto testing ?! The little step up gap thing to that rock slab is nuckin' futs)
Shandro is as old as me and I probably can't keep up with his kid.
McCaul and Berrecloth do stuff I can't even comprehend in slo-mo. (I remember when this started to happen in skateboarding. I was bummed then, I'm just old now) and I'd be happy to take their waterlogged bikes off there hands.
Mt7 Psychosis really is crazy
Steve Smith will reach his goals.

at first, i didn't really like seasons as much as roam or collective, but after watching it again and i'll admit it many more times, it grows on you and simply gets better and better. steve smith's mom is totally awesome.... and he is too. hahaha
-
yep, the Steve Smith part was great...
I went and watched the DH WC in Andorra over the weekend and bumped into a few of the 11 strong New Zealand DH riders whom had come to Europe, a HUGE trip... Had spoken with some in NZ when training, seeing the work these young dudes do is fantastic....

Stop torturing me. I beg you. PLEASE!!! I've been rewatching Roam and The collective and all the extra footage in between to keep warm, but I really have to have my fix of seasons really soon...
Wow, The Collective really likes Latch Key Kid. Roam had quite a bid of Latch Key Kid in it as well. No problem there...it's not bad music.
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

Well yes, kind of made me feel like a crap rider totally................... or
This is the tale of Daniel Morgan,
Who had a tiny sexual organ,
Just by chance they named him Danny,
If it had been half an inch shorter,
they would have called him fanny,

I have to agree. This was my least favourite of the 3 movies. A few of the segments were pretty boring, and I also felt that this one had the weakest soundtrack. Rage Against the Machine, Tragically Hip....c'mon guys....(srry, I'll probably get flamed for this but I can't stand the Hip and will never understand why many Canadian's love them).
Some of the slow-mo shots with the HD and being able to see all of the detail with the dirt flying off the tires and such was really cool. Definitely lots of great shots though.

I borrowed it from my friend Three days ago. I have watched the whole thing 3 times, and the whistler scene about 5 total. They did a really good job with the flow of the video. Even though the other 2 were SWEET, I liked how this one sorta had a plot. Following the riders throughout the year! Just thinkin about it makes me want to watch it.

You know what I think.....
I wish I didn't read this thread. I got ants in my pants now!!!! Gotta go home and watch Roam and Collective again.....and again.....and again.....and again.......

Shandro comes out pretty weak and old until the Shore segment gets in full swing, then it's just humbling. Definitely my favorite segment of the movie. Stevie and his mom are so cute! I really like the Whistler segment this year, they made an effort to make the trails very recognizable and I like the "group ride" style.
The Collective crew definitely took a big turn from the first two installments and tried something new. I definitely miss the more narrative style of Roam and the Collective but I think they are onto something. HD cameras add an amazing amount of detail and the cinematography is still kickass.

You Guys Riding?

I DIG this movie! I like that they come back to the cast throughout the movie. Most action porn just shows a rider's segment, and then they never return to that person for the rest of the movie. Seasons got it down with getting to know the riders and seeing how they ride during various times of the year. Very cool!

I thought it was freakin' fantastic! Highlights for me were definitely Stevie Smiths section in Cassidy, the Mt 7 Psychosis, and Steve Meats race run at Mont St Anne- I just got back from a wee DH session, and it's inspired me to listen to RATM under my fullface. I'm convinced it makes me faster...
The winter sections were great too, and the trails Matt Hunter was riding look like soooo much flowy fun!
New favorite movie, no doubt

Agreed......totally frickin' awesome movie. I loved Shandro riding with his kid and then his section on the shore ripped. I'd like to think that's how I'll be with a wee one someday. Too many other good sections to name.
Whafe, if you look closely, CBX is in a Crankworx shot next to the kids holding the pink sign that reads "More Cowbell" She's in the green hoodie with her camera. We were about 20 feet uphill from her drinking beer and she was hanging with the crazies.
Cheers,

Well, that decides it for me - I'll get it. I get tired of seeing all these guys do nothing but air moves. I mean, I appreciate & all, but after the 200th time I'm ready to move on to something else. Maybe I'd feel different if I were a downhiller or freerider or dirtjumper. So where do I buy it?
What really makes me feel old is the tunes list - I only recognize 3 of the artists. Yeah, I know Damien Marely, but I know his dad much better. It surprises me none of these videographers combine mountain biking with Ska music. To me, the tempo of Ska goes naturally with mountian biking.

Ebx, do you know what trail Shandro rides in that section?

Believe it or not, the very first section is CBC until he rolls down the ladder that has tires nailed to it (slow it down and you'll see what I mean). After that, I have no idea......my guess is that it's several trails based on the ferns in som and the older forest in others.

Shandro's "Shore" section isn't really on the Shore.

I borrowed it from a friend, and in the past 4 days I have watched the whole thing 3 times, and the whistler scene a total of 5. I love it!

I have to agree. It's okay, the cinematography is great, but the talky parts were really boring to me. I think Seasons would be a far better movie if the Collective had put all the riding together, including the Whistler scenes in the extras, as the main movie and then made watching the yappy parts an option in the extras (the same way some DVDs have a directors commentary track). The talking really makes repeat viewings an effort at FFWing through all the yackety yack.

Overall, I thought it was very good. Definitely worthy of The Collective name. At the same time, I'd rank Seasons number three out of all their films. The cinematography was outstanding, but for some reason it didn't make me want to run out and ride the way the first two films did.
It seemed like they didn't get as creative or original in parts of the film as they could have. RATM is great riding music, but I've heard that song about two thousand times at this point. Something I've loved about all their films is the great music that I hadn't heard until watching them.
One other gripe - nearly all the filming takes place in Canada, with the exception of Steve Peat's segment in England and Cam McCaul's segment in California. I even noticed one helmet cam segment that I swear was a helment cam segment in The Collective on the exact same trail.
Other than those two relatively minor complaints, Seasons was very good. The Collective continues to be in a league of their own as far as MTB films go.
-
I have to agree with a previous post, I really liked the narration side of the film, it doesnt make it easy to watch time and time again like the 1st & 2nd films....
Try and be overseas for work and in different hotels for 4 weeks, you get to watch it a few times....LOL

Hahaha, and Hunter riding the same section of trail that Romo rode in Collective for his intro shot! Where the camera car is riding along next to him, I was thinking, "Come on, you have to be able to find new shots."
