    Canada Day Passion!

Canada Day. A day to enjoy the extended wkd, relish the mid-summer weather and reflect on what our great country has to offer us.

Out here in Manitoba we don't have a whole lot of options for trail rides. There's about a dozen great trail systems but only a few are trail-a-bike friendly.

Ingolf (technically Ontario) would typically NOT be labelled as one of them. This trail is two hours east of Winnipeg, located within the Canadian Shield in the extreme NW Ontario. It is mostly described as wet, rooty, technical, with jagged rock and steep but short ups and downs, but most of all challenging. Many a rider from across Canada have had their butts handed to them on this ride.

So with a club ride schedule for Canada Day, my ex does the unthinkable. She ditches her son for the day to party. Therefor I'm left with a dilemma. Do I bail out and ride a tamer trail or do I throw caution to the wind and tackle this anaerobic adventure in +35C(95F) humid heat pulling 70 pounds worth of kid and trail-a-bike??

Well I ask my son what he thinks and his answer "Let do it".

    Awesome!!

Getting geared up at the trailhead

    Ready for roll-out

Over some railway tracks to get to the trail

Some easy double track along the power lines

Our first water hole. Not good for the hubs but whatever.

    A bit of an uphill.

    More water

    Some downs

    Some rolls

A steep rock face into more water

    There's alot of rock here

    And water

    Uphill

    Downhill

    Chillin by the lake

Was really worried that this trail would be too treacherous for my son but I'm so stoked that he had a great time. After 5 1/2 hours of riding he was still itching to continue.
    Good Job kiddo!!

Now to get him a suspension seatpost.....

Way cool! While your ex is building hangovers, your building memories; the kind that last with fondness for both you and your son. Happy Canada Day!

    Thanks!!

Little to no mosquitoes or black flies but the horse flies were atrocious!! Took out huge chunks of skin when they bite.

I thought this thread would be about drinking two-fours on the patio listening to Kim Mitchell?

Gone are the days we stopped to decide,
    Where we should go,
    We just ride...

Nice job on the ride report and pics - Thanks! 5 1/2 hours and I am so ready to get off of the saddle. Your son is a trooper. Is that battle scar on his elbow from this ride or from some other day in the life of a youngster?

Yep we fell once. Tried to go up a technical up.

We sure did. But splashing through so much water quickly wore it off.

Thanks. He loves to ride his own bike as well.

Our photographer is unreal. We're lucky to have him on our rides.
