Baiku (A Haiku For My Bike)

    Stealthy black carbon
Tube socks and super glue built
    Silent as ninja
The older I get, the faster I was.

    Punch it, Chewie.

    Your wheels spin
    Uncaringly
As I lay on the ground
Use it, use it, use it while you still have it.

    Feet on pedals churn
    Bike and body become one
    Trails flow forever

    Fix for post 2:

    Your wheel keeps spinning,
    uncaringly, mockingly,
    as I lie hurting

Grit, spit, and a whole lot of duct tape!

Here's a Haiku contest from the Turner forum from 2007:

    1.
    Heart filled with sorrow
The Burner and I go forth.
    Slowly, joy returns

    2.
    Most descend faster
    Others may climb much quicker
    My smile is endless

    3.
    Sing turner praises.
    Homers never complaisant,
    Frankenbike away.

    4.
    Crazy Fred visits,
    Sturm und drang quickly ensues.
    Fred yin, Homer yang.

    5.
    rocker, TNT,
    geometry of genius,
    i grin through the ride.

    6.
    I ain't all that bright
    I can't follow directions
    I apologize

Sent this to a friend who toppled over on some very slickery rock, disingaged from the bike which resulted in a slo-mo (OH NO!) slide towards the edge with ineffectual grasping at poison ivy plants, then freefall for about 8 ft to the bottom of a creek bed, while the bike stayed on the trail. His response:

    Bike rests peacefully
    As I fall into abyss
    Is the bike ok?

    Ouch!

    Why did I flat here?
I'm so far away from home...
Now I'll have to walk. ;-(

    (BTW, I love the title!)
A tough day on the trails still beats a good day at work...
