Back in the saddle - New Mexico Passion

After being off my bike due to a combination of a compressed spine, pulled hamstring & piriformis syndrome, I was finally able to ride my mountain bike on dirt for the first time in 10 loooooong wks. If you ever suffer from piriformis syndrome, ask your physical therapist put you in traction. It worked for me - almost immediately the pain stopped. It was unfortunate that it took 8 wks for the Dr/PT to figure this out.

Sure I'd had weeks to get my garage sorted out and my bikes and work space squared away and while it was good to get that chore finished, hanging out in the garage with bikes you can't ride sucks.

So on last evening's ride I was painfully reminded all the fitness/stamina gains I'd made over the spring have evaportated. I hate that because I was riding pretty damn well up (for me) until then. Oh well, now I get to have fun doing it all over again.

At least having to stop and catch my breath enabled me ample time to soak in the views over looking my home here in ABQ, NM. It was just another average sunset for us, but I never get tired of seeing 'em.

2 months of being out , that sucks. I'm not looking forward to being out for a week or two.

Glad to hear you're back out there Nate. Beautiful pics! Oh, doctors are currently "practicing" on me. Not fun. Nice shop too by the way.

Have fun regaining your fitness for the winter months!

Coolio. You didn't miss much did you. I heard due to fire danger, the foothills were closed for the first time ever.

Happy recovery and glad you are back.

Nate- Very cool pics, I know almost all of them. The one thing I couldn't quite figure out is if that is a Rusty Wallace rug in front of your bench. (insert those icon-thingys here).

Welcome back. Regaining the fitness may be hard, but at least it is more fun than sitting dreaming of riding!

    Great Pics!

For about a year, I had to travel to ABQ once or twice a month. Always took the bike and hit the foothills trails after work. I was rewarded with one of those spectacular sunsets every time. Kind of a magical place.
