    is making a comeback.

Turns out that five years of not mountain biking, really makes one strive to get back to it.

    The means and the end.

As for slang, I've always been partial to "endo." I love the way it's three words, "end over end" condensed into one word and a letter, to make another word. So clever, and it really rolls nicely off the tongue. And it's always so lovely when someone endos; we usually get a great big laugh or at least a nice adrenaline rush. And I think us mountain bikers have given it a better meaning (more appropriate, at the very least) than those BMXers, who use the term to describe what we very well know is a nose wheelie. (also a good one.)

    Uh...

    Joy & Passion

2nd part: the phrase "Bike Porn"

3rd part*: I believe that even on the simplest bike ride,
so much happens: We feel things, see things, think things,
and say things that we otherwise might not.
It all adds up to something more powerful, and
more ineffable, than a few sentences can express.

    Hill therapy

I may have borrowed that from a Mike Ferrentino article in Bike. Still seems to sum it up for me.

The term I've always found interesting is bottom bracket. Why do they call it a bottom bracket? Yes it's on the bottom and it holds or "brackets" the crank, but does anyone know the origin of this term?

    1) Friendly competition

    2) "Dabber!!". I love yelling it at my friends!! And they love yelling it at me! It's the best when you and your buddy are doing an insane technical or steep climb and you get to yell "DABBER!" as you pass them stopped on the side of the trail. I like when it's yelled at me cause it forces me to do better the next time. Next time means go down and clean it right there!!!

Tripple meaning. What happens to my bike, whay happens to me, and my financial situation due to the previous two meanings.

Favourite slang word(s)? High side and huck. Do one often, the other rarely. Those that ride with me know which is which.

Second, I agree that posts are lame. Usually you can remove them and replace them with button head bolts. You should be able to pick these up at any hardware store. Also, sometimes the posts can be used to route your brake cable down to your caliper, so they're not always so lame.

    I hope this helps.

Today it means "infected elbow" and "new helmet".

I could also go with - falling down
    falling over
    sore legs (hands, a$$, etc.)
    replacement parts
    outta money

But I still think it's "really cool".

    Release

    From m-w.com

    Main Entry: 1re·lease
    Pronunciation: ri-'lEs
    Function: transitive verb
    Inflected Form(s): re·leased; re·leas·ing
Etymology: Middle English relesen, from Middle French relessier, from Latin relaxare to relax
1 : to set free from restraint, confinement, or servitude

    Sounds about right to me...

To me, mountain biking means ...

    Mountain Biking

    Kn.
I used to be with it. Then, they changed what "it" is, and now what I'm with is no longer "it". And whatever "it" is, is strange and confusing.

freedom and serenity. I don't believe that you can describe mtb in just two words but that is about as close as it can be.

    favorite slang

    1. Blood, Sweat, and Gears.
    2. Bikesexual.
    3. The meaning of bikesexual comes from eating, breathing, and sleeping with one thing on your mind, the bike. Rain or shine, the bikesexuals are out trying to beat their own time, their buddies up a hill, or just having a great time in the mud. The bike is the first thing on their mind when they awake, and the last before they go to sleep. The bikesexuals will spend every last penny just to get their bike running again, or spend that money to hit new trails or climbs they have heard about. The question is, how bikesexual are you?

    rolling namaste

Slang: hoark - to steal something. Can be used when you pull a stunt out of your butt that you should have crashed and burned on. "Man, you hoarked that one - how're the nads?"
