    Waldo/Charlton/Lemish Conditions

Thinking about making the trip up to Charlton-Lemish this weekend. Anybody been up there this year? How is the blow down? Same questions for Waldo? Thanks for the input.

The loop around Waldo, and up and over the twins and around Charlton are all good. I have ridden them all recently. I don't know about the access from Little Cultus and the Lemish section.
Moving to Bend? Let me help.

Great news! I was about to post this very same question.

    'Skeeters are manageable, are they?

Camped at North Waldo for 4 days the first weekend in August. Waldo is clear and good to go. Was basically skeeter free (basically). Recent rain could have changed that I guess. Twins are clear except for maybe a tree or two. Plenty of skeeters high on the Twins, but easy enough to out run. Charleton / Lemish is cleared out. Maybe one or two trees down. Skeeters have been mild up there since mid July this year.

was up there the past 4 days, mosquitos were virtually nonexistent, but the bee's are out in force. We didn't get hit but saw a group of runners get nailed about 5 times. recent rain made the trails perfect!

I just got back from camping there last night, and riding today.

Perfect shape! Zero mosquitoes (and I wore no repellant), and tons and tons of wild huckleberries. They were pretty damn ripe, but they'll be even better in a weeks time.

The ride was great, as usual.

When I biked here yesterday, I saw the Jim Weaver Loop National Recreation Trail at the North Waldo campground. Evidently this is the new name of the Waldo Lake Trail, as of 2008.

Don't be confused, as they are the same trail. Honestly, I never knew it had this new name until yesterday.

Rode Waldo on Aug 7 and Lemish, Charlton, Metolius/Windigo, Clover Meadow Loop on Aug 9. There were 3 down trees to step over, 1 ride around and a hop over on Metolius/Windigo section of the Lemish, Charlton loop. I saw a mosquito.....I think.
