    Visiting Portland

Hey Guys, I will be in Portland Wed-Sat. Never been. Could someone suggest some local trails and a bike shops that rents daily. I would love to join any local rides so that I don't get myself too lost. I am very unfamiliar with what I can expect from the area terrain. I am used to Rocky east coast technical singletrack and am excited to see what the Portland has to offer.

I am visiting my cousin and cannot pass up the any potential local rides. From Philly and have never been any further west than mid state. Thanks for your suggestions.

Rent at Fat Tire Farm and ride at Sandy Ridge and the Wilson River trail. Good samplers of what we have.

Thanks. Are the trails close to the shop?

No, the only thing close to the shop is Forest Park with several miles of fire road riding and about 1/2 mile of legal single track. Most decent single track mtb trails around Portland are an hour away or more by car.

Hmmmm. The reviews and trail description of Sandy Ridge sound pretty great. My cousin is not a biker, so I'm sorta on my own in terms of trying to get myself out there. If anyone know of any group rides that I can try to tag along to or I can see what the bike shop suggests... doesn't sound like an opportunity that I want to miss.

If you aren't able to get a ride to either Sandy Ridge or the Tillamook Trails (Wilson River, etc.), I'd suggest playing the dumb out of towner and riding the singletrack in Forest Park. If you do, at least don't poach the stuff near town.

F' the anti mtb Forest Park people.
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

Is it private property or just no bike allowed hiking trail? Is it clearly marked no bikes? I don't typically like riding where it's not permitted since it gives the mtb community a bad name, but if it's it something that is relatively easy to get away with... I gotta do what I gotta do.

    Sandy Ridge looks incredible though.

Get a car and drive. Even the best of Forest Park hiking trails kinda suck compared to SR and other PDX area trails.

    Hi!
Any ideas on a rental shop with more "normal" bikes?
Fat Tire Farm rental bike are amazing but I'm looking for something to commute.
I'm coming from 10-17th of March and I would like to discover by bike.
Isn't it the capital of bikes?

    thanks!
