    Upper Met-Win conditions?

Anyone ridden Met/Win from Happy Valley towards Cow Camp recently? How's the trail?

About like this, 'cept a little drier now. There are reasons COTA's page for Metolius-Windigo remarks the majority of the trail isn't well suited to bikes.

I attempted the ride today but gave up about 1.5 miles from the Mrazek-Met/Win intersection. In that distance there were about 10 trees down. The trail is soft and primitive compared to most trails in this area. Feels like a horse trail and rides like one too.

Might be more likely you're noticing the greater rolling friction of lightly used tread. Most southbound horse traffic turns off Metolius-Windigo at the Tam MacArthur junction about half a mile north of where you turned around.

10 trees is about half the typical blowdown volume on that climb, actually, so not bad.

If I wanted to lift weights I would have gone to the gym!

This is what it looks like out there.

Good to see the grass in the tread is coming along nicely.
