Need to get out this wknd.
Anybody been up Ape Canyon yet?
    Lewis River?

    How about Hood?
    Knebal Spring, Surveyors clear yet?

ive been watching strava segments of a few people that frequent knebal and 8/15 mile frequently and it dosent look like anyone has ventured up there yet. Plenty of people session dog river tho.

Ape Canyon has several large trees down, a few small patches of snow on the lower portions, but the last 1/4 mile by the top was a pretty gnarly sidehill traverse.

Ahh...nice! Always wanted to get up there with snow like that on a bike. looks awesome.
Do you happen to know if the road down to Smith creek is accessible?

Maybe....depends on how much shade it receives. Looks like they just opened the gate past Marble Mtn, and there was some snow on 83 between Marble Mtn and Ape Canyon TH.

The strava data would be great on 8 & 15 mile, lots of ride 10' and lift your bike up and over logs. This is a huge year for blowdowns.

Lewis River is rideable. Interesting switchbacks on the most recent reroute.

    Ok cool.
Curious to see what they did with a reroute. That was quite the slide & steep terrain

As an update to this-Just rode 8 mile loop to lookout Mtn trail to 15 mile trail. Trails in great shape, still moist but from what I hear high prairie still has a lot of downed trees

Repost of what I received from 44 Trails on 5/27/2016:

    Dog River Trail # 675 – open
    Surveyor’s Ridge Trail #688 – open
Knebal Springs Trail #474 – open
    Bottle Prairie Trail #455- open
    Eightmile Trail #496- open
Oak Ridge Trail #688A – open
    Super Connector – open

Fifteenmile Trail #456 – Not Clear
Cooks Meadow Trail #639 – Not Clear

Higher elevation trails including upper 450, Boulder Lakes area and Bonnie Meadows have not been cleared of blowdown and are still too wet to ride. Please refrain from riding upper elevation areas that are still wet. Riding wet trails degrades the tread and fuels the argument for those who oppose mountain bike use.

I guess I'm glad that sandy hike a bike is gone, but those switch backs sure could have benefited from some more radius. Also curious to see if anybody rides the falls creek reroute more than once.

Falls Creek Reroute? The new part that avoids the double-track between confusing road crossing and getting down to Falls Creek starting around 2600' of elevation? The link should open a map centered on the area I'm thinking of from a trip I took in August 2015.

Is the reroute no more fun than the trail it replaces? Or is it worse?

I'd rather let other people ride it & chime in but my guess is most people will ride it once & go back to the original route. Obviously it needs more work & the view is cool
