Syncline: Help w/Directions to trail off Courtney Rd.
In the next couple weeks I'm planning on doing some XC training rides at Syncline, up Courtney Rd, Down cry baby/little moab.
I found this, but it doesn't have a lot of detail:
The Syncline | Mountain Biking in Washington
I am concerned about where to get off at the top of Courtney, I was going to wing it but don't want to screw around pretending to be Lewis and Clark exploring all over.
Yeah - puss move not riding UP the trails.
Ride up Courtney which will eventually turn to gravel.
You'll come to a right turning corner that looks out over a very large meadow area with a nice house just above you (you'll see a trail going out to the meadow, which leads to the hospital hill area).
Past that you will head back into the trees towards Syncline. There will be a couple of forks. Stick to the main level road heading out towards Syncline (do not take the left turns up the hill).
Eventually the road will turn to a double track right below another house.
Stay on the double track, which will develop more of a single track like lane. About 1.5 miles out on the double track, you'll see a single track turn right into the woods. It's easy to see, but you can miss it if you are just flying down the double track. That singletrack leads to the top of Crybaby. If you continue straight on the double track, there is a convoluted way to get to the top of the Hidden Valley trail system.
Hope this helps.
Or just ride up the trail from the bottom.
Master of Laundry...Lord of Cleaning!
I would just ride up the jeep trail to the brown house a couple of times.
If you are looking to hammer out a big climb and then bomb it down, I get the ride up the road come down crybaby to Moab. But you could do a great figure 8 say- up to the brown house over to Hidden, down hidden, up maui to the jeep trail up to the brown house over to the bottom of crybaby and then come down Moab.
To each his own, I'm just giving a suggestion that takes out the road climb.
