Stash camping at Lookout Point lake.

I hauled some old comfy sleeping bags, a big tarp, some fire wood and a hobo stove out to the lake with the truck. I hid everything in 5 gal buckets and buried them under a log.

I have camped there three nights and plan one more tomarrow night. I will return later with the truck and pickup my stashed gear and bring it home. My three week vacation is almost over. I camped at the lake for some of my vacation.

I can spent the night without hauling so much stuff on my bike. I don't have to worry about leaving my vehicle unattended all night either. It sure is easy to hide stuff in these dense woods.

This time of year the lake is low and I like to walk around the stumps looking at the rocks and driftwood along the shore.

I took pics riding out there, I really like Lowell, it looks like a great place for me to retire to someday. It's close to the big city and some great mountain bike trails.

On my way home tonight from the lake I ran into Fred heading home on the closed Weyerhouser rd. Fred commutes to Springfield from Lowell by bike. I had a nice tailwind, he didn't.

I took a pic of the sign tell me all the rules I would be breaking like littering and fires outside designated areas. That big ol dam is one reason Salmon can't swim up the river anymore. That and Dexter dam just below. I don't feel too bad about a little stealth camping

My tarp shelter, stove and lake veiws.

It froze this morning. I saw some fresh snow on Mt June and Hardesty. The stove is a rocket version I have been experimenting with. It's feeds air under the wood port. I like how conservative it is with wood.

I heard some night riders go by my stealth camp. I enjoyed the solitude and being so close to home. I didn't plan on riding the trail but focus on hiking around the lake bottom so I left my 29er at home.

I started my fire with pitch I found on the way in. With mag shavings it really works well. Cotton balls and vasiline blow it away thou. Pitch is everywhere and worth knowing about as a dependable fire starter.

I rig my tarp different everytime. I like the challenge of setting up a good tarp.

The relectors on my spokes are called Chopped Spokes, $7 for a pak of ten.

I have been following the evolution of your stove arrangement. Have you been reading the ASHRAE design manuals?
